Reflective and absorptive/transmissive polymer electrochromic devices (ECDs) composed of spray-coated films of poly(3,3-bis(octadecyloxymethyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-thieno[3,4-b][1,4] dioxepine)(PProDOT(CH2OC18H37)(2)) and poly(3,3-bis(2-ethylhexyloxymethyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-thieno[3,4-b][1,4] dioxepine) (PProDOT(CH(2)OEtHx)(2)) layers as cathodically coloring polymers and poly(3,6-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4] dioxin-5-yl)-9-methyl-9H-carbazole) (PBEDOT-NMeCz) as the anodically coloring polymer have been constructed and evaluated. These devices exhibit low switching voltages (+/-1.2 V), high visible contrast values, sub-second switching times, and high switching stability in atmospheric conditions. The reflective ECD comprising PProDOT(CH(2)OEtHx)(2) as the active layer demonstrates an unusual electrochromic behavior. By regulating the applied voltage, a high reflectance contrast of greater than 70% DeltaT was achieved in the NIR region (2 mum) without any noticeable color change of the device.

Electrosynthesis and characterization of an electrochromic material containing biscarbazole-oxadiazole units and its application in an electrochromic device
UDUM, YASEMİN; HIZLIATEŞ, CEVHER GÜNDOĞDU; Ergun, Yavuz; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2015-11-30)
Electroactive poly(2,5-Bis(9-methyl-9 H-carbazol-3-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole) (PolyBCO) film was synthesized to form a highly stable conducting polymer with excellent electrochromic properties. The polymer was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy and colorimetry. Spectroelectrochemistry analysis demonstrated that the polymer can undergo both p-type and n-type doping processes. The polymer has four accessible color states. Further kinetic studies demonstrated that the polymer revealed high...
Conducting and transparent single-wall carbon nanotube electrodes for polymer-fullerene solar cells
Pasquier, AD; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Kanwal, A; Miller, S; Chhowalla, M (AIP Publishing, 2005-11-14)
We describe the use of single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) thin films as transparent and conducting electrodes for hole collection in poly(hexyl)thiophene-[6-6]phenyl-C-61-butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT-PCBM) organic photovoltaics. We report a power conversion efficiency of 1%, with a fill factor of 0.3 and a short-circuit current of 6.5 mA/cm(2) under 100 mW/cm(2) polychromatic white light illumination measured in air. These values are comparatively higher than reference cells of similar thickness made on ...
Electrochromic properties of poly(diphenyldithieno[3,2-b; 2 ',3 '-d]thiophene)
Mert, Olcay; Sahin, Elif; Ertas, Erdal; Ozturk, Turan; Aydin, Engin A.; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2006-06-01)
A conducting polymer of diphenyldithieno[3,2-b;2',3'-d]thiophene (DPhDTT) was synthesized via potentiodynamic method in dichloromethane (DCM)/acetonitrile (AN) (1:9(v/v))-NaClO4/LiClO4 (0.1:0.1 M) solvent-electrolyte couple. Characterizations of the resulting homopolymer were performed by cyclic voltarnmetry (CV), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Moreover, the spectroelectrochemical and electrochromic properties of the homopolymer films were investigated. Consequently, P(DPhDTT)/PE...
Indium tin oxide nanoparticles as anode for light-emitting diodes
Çırpan, Ali (Wiley, 2006-02-15)
Thin films of indium tin oxide (ITO) nanoparticles have been investigated as anode materials for polymer light-emitting diodes. A luminance efficiency (0.13 cd/ A), higher than that (0.09 cd/A) obtained in a control devices fabricated on conventional commercial ITO anodes were found. The thin films were made by spin coating of a suspension followed by annealing. The ITO nartoparticle films have a stable sheet resistance of 200 ohm/sq, and an optical transmittance greater than 86% over the range of 400-1000 ...
Photon-to-carrier efficiencies of nanostructured zinc-phthalocyanine/fullerene thin films assessed by time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy
Esentürk, Okan; Lane, Paul A.; Heilweil, Edwin J. (null; 2008-01-01)
Blend and multilayer Zinc-phthalocyanine/fullerene thin films were investigated as model active layers for solar cells by Time-Resolved Terahertz Spectroscopy. A strong dependence on the blend ratio and multilayer nano-structure of the films was found
