The oxidation reactions responsible for physical ageing are thermally activated processes and yield cross-linking similar to the vulcanization process and chain-scission reactions. Chain scission, is responsible for the relaxation behaviour under constant stretch, whereas cross-linking is responsible for hardening of the material. The decrease in the stretch at break upon cross-linking motivates the so called network alteration proposed in this contribution.

A new method for processing of monazite and examination of the products by X-ray analysis
Kizilyalli, Meral; Welch, Alastair J. (Elsevier BV, 1987-1)
Sintering reactions of lanthanide orthophosphates with Na2CO3 gave the expected products (Na3PO4 and Ln2O3) with stoichiometric amounts of Na2CO3. When less than the theoretical amounts of Na2CO3 were used, two intermediate products eventually characterized by X-ray diffraction as Na3Ln(PO4)2 and Ln3PO7 were detected. Application of the sintering method to naturally occurring phosphates, particularly the mineral monazite, proved to be very successful. By using the optimum amount of Na2CO3 to form Na3Ln(PO4)...
An integrated process for partial oxidation of alkanes
Zhou, XP; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Yilmaz, GA; Lorkovic, YM; Laverman, LE; Weiss, M; Sherman, JH; McFarland, EW; Stucky, GD; Ford, PC (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2003-09-21)
The partial oxidation of alkanes via bromination followed by the reaction with solid metal oxide mixtures (MO) is shown to give an array of products that can be tuned by varying the MO and the reaction conditions.
A novel integrated process for the functionalization of methane and ethane: bromine as mediator
Lorkovic, IM; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Yilmaz, GA; Zhou, XP; Laverman, LE; Sun, SL; Schaefer, DJ; Weiss, M; Noy, ML; Cutler, CI; Sherman, JH; McFarland, EW; Stucky, GD; Ford, PC (Elsevier BV, 2004-11-24)
We describe a novel, integrated multi-step process for the partial oxidation of alkanes to alcohols, ethers or olefins using O-2 as oxidant. The sequential transformations are (1) alkane bromination to alkyl bromide(s) and HBr, (2) reaction of this mixture with solid metal oxide (MO) to neutralize the HBr and to generate oxygenated products or olefins plus solid metal bromide, and (3) oxidation of the spent solid with 02 to regenerate the metal oxide and Br-2 for reuse.
An investigation of the chemical synthesis and high-temperature sintering behaviour of calcium hydroxyapatite (HA) and tricalcium phosphate (TCP) bioceramics
Tas, AC; Korkusuz, Feza; Timucin, M; Akkas, N (1997-02-01)
The experimental conditions for the synthesis of sub-micrometre, spherical particles of calcium hydroxyapatite [Ca,,(PO,),(OH),] (HA) and tricalcium phosphate [Ca,(PO,),] (TCP) are investigated through chemical coprecipitation from the aqueous solutions of calcium nitrate and di-ammonium hydrogen phosphate salts. The precipitation process employed was also found to be suitable for the production of sub-micrometre HA/TCP composite powders in situ. The synthesized pure HA and TCP powders were found to be stab...
A theoretical study of the cycloaddition between cyclopentadiene and allylideneammonium cation: An AM1 study
Zora, Metin (2002-12-09)
The Diels-Alder reaction between cyclopentadiene and allylideneammonium cation has been studied by means of AMI semiempirical method. Allylideneammonium cation can add to cyclopentadiene via its either C=C or C=N bond. For each cycloaddition, four reactive channels have been characterized corresponding to the endo-s-trans, endo-s-cis, exo-s-trans and exo-s-cis approach modes. The results indicate that C=C bond of allylideneammonium cation is more reactive as dienophile than its C=N bond in reaction with cyc...
