Photoluntinescence (PL) properties of various Ge-based nanostructured materials, prepared using methods such as chemical etching, ion implantation and spark processing, have been studied. The PL was much stronger from the samples containing Ge nanocrystals, in comparison with their counterparts with no or less Ge nanoparticles, hinting at the likely role of the quantum confinement in Ge nanocrystals (NCs) in the light emission process. On the other hand, defects in the oxides or Ge-O bonded material alone are also shown to emit light in the same energy zone as with the Ge NCs. Discussion on these results is presented. Refractive index, static dielectric constant, energy band gap and oscillator parameters of Ga2SeS single crystals
Qasrawi, A. F.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Wiley, 2007-09-01)
The optical properties of Bridgman method grown Ga2SeS crystals have been investigated by means of room-temperature transmittance and reflectance spectral analysis. The optical data have revealed direct and indirect allowed transition band gaps of 2.49 and 2.10 eV, respectively. The room-temperature refractive index, which was calculated from the reflectance and transmittance data, allowed the identification of the dispersion and oscillator energies, static dielectric constant and static refractive index as...
Does tubular structure of carbon form only from graphine sheet?
Erkoç, Şakir (Elsevier BV, 2004-10-01)
The structural and electronic properties of carbon nanotubes constructed from non-graphine sheet have been investigated qualitatively by performing semi-empirical self-consistent-field molecular orbital calculations at the level of AMI method within the RHF formulation. It has been found that these structures are stable and endothermic. From the point of view of electronic properties these structures seem to be nonconductive; their frontier molecular orbital energy differences are large, in the order of 10e...
PARTIAL MOLAR PROPERTIES OF MGCL2 IN MGCL2-KCL-CACL2 MELTS
ZHU, J; Karakaya, İshak; THOMPSON, WT (The Electrochemical Society, 1988-01-01)
To further the understanding of electrolytes of value in industrial magnesium electrolysis, the reversible emf for the formation of in fused salts containing and was studied. The data made possible the calculation of thermodynamic solution properties which were used with other data to construct features of the ternary phase diagram. The multiple discrete complex anion (MDCA) model was tested against the thermodynamic findings from the present study. Reasonable agreement was obtained between the experimen...
Modeling of Magnetic Properties of Nanocrystalline La-doped Barium Hexaferrite
KÜÇÜK, İLKER; Sozeri, Huseyin; Ozkan, Husnu (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2011-05-01)
In this paper an artificial neural network (ANN) has been developed to compute the magnetization of the pure and La-doped barium ferrite powders synthesized in ammonium nitrate melt. The input parameters were: the Fe/Ba ratio, La content, sintering temperature, HCl washing and applied magnetic field. A total of 8284 input data set from currently measured 35 different samples with different Fe/Ba ratios, La contents and washed or not washed in HCl were available. These data were used in the training set for ...
Electrical characterization of vacuum-deposited n-CdS/p-CdTe heterojunction devices
Bayhan, H; Ercelebi, C (IOP Publishing, 1997-05-01)
The effects of post-deposition processes such as CdCl2 dip and/or annealing in air on the material and device properties of vacuum-evaporated Au-CdTe/CdS-TO heterojunction solar cells have been investigated. The CdCl2 dip followed by air annealing at 300 degrees C for 5 min improved the device efficiency significantly, resulting in decreased CdTe resistivity and enhanced grain size. The temperature-dependent current-voltage analysis indicated that above 280 K interface recombination dominates the current tr...
