Synthesis of novel chiral thiourea derivatives and their applications, synthesis of some hdac inhibitors, addition of acyl phosphonates to ethylcyanoformate
Sağlam, Gülüzar; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Department of Chemistry (2008)
The thiourea derivatives have become a main focus of research in asymmetric synthesis as an organocatalyst in recent years. In the first part, the thiourea catalysts are synthesized starting from easily available L-tartaric acid and application of the catalysts to some addition reactions showed no significant asymmetric induction. A number of HDAC inhibitors have been developed as anti-cancer agent at the present time.In the second part, some aryl butenoic acid derivatives are synthesized as HDAC inhibitors...
A new approach for the synthesis of spiro and gem-dimethyl-substituted 1,4-oxazepines from N-propargylic beta-enaminones
Karadeniz, Eda; Kelgökmen, Yılmaz; Zora, Metin (Wiley, 2020-11-01)
An efficient and general method for the synthesis of spiro-1,4-oxazepines and 3,3-dimethyl-1,4-oxazepines is reported. When treated with ZnI2 and AgSbF6 in refluxing DCE, cyclohexane-embedded N-propargylic beta-enaminones underwent 7-exo-dig cyclization to afford spiro-1,4-oxazepines, specifically 12-methylene-11-oxa-7-azaspiro[5.6]dodeca-7,9-dienes, in good to high yields. Accordingly, N-(1,1-dimethyl)propargylic beta-enaminones produced 3,3-dimethyl-1,4-oxazepines. Cyclization was found to be general for ...
Synthesis of ferrocenyl quinones and polyquinanes
Eralp, Tuğçe; Zora, Metin; Department of Chemistry (2005)
With the discovery of antitumor activity of ferrocene derivatives, research on new ferrocene derivatives have gained importance. For this purpose, we have investigated the synthesis of ferrocenyl quinones starting from squaric acid. Several quinone derivatives are known to have antitumor and antibiotic activities. In this research, by combining ferrocene and quinone moieties, we have targeted ferrocenyl quinones which are supposed to have enhanced potential antitumor activity. Thermolysis of ferrocenyl-subs...
Asymmetric synthesis of norbornene based 1,4-Aminoalcohol derivatives and applications in asymmetric diethylzinc reactions
Erdem, Mine; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2007)
The asymmetric synthesis of chiral norbornene based 1,4-aminoalcohols and their applications in asymmetric diethylzinc addition reactions was perfomed starting from meso-anhydride 50. The desymmetrization of this meso-anhydride 50 was done by the usage of quinine or quinidine cinchona alkaloids with very high enantiomeric excess values (up to 98% ee) and chemical yields. The Quinidine-mediated desymmetrization of meso-anhydride 50 with methanol gave (2R,3S)-(+)-cis-monoester 51. The amination of this result...
Regioselective Synthesis of Benzo[h][1,6]- naphthyridines and Chromenopyrazinones through Alkyne Cyclization
Hoplamaz, Emre; KESKİN, SELBİ; Balcı, Metin (Wiley, 2017-03-17)
A regioselective approach to the synthesis of benzo[h][1,6]-naphthyridine and chromenopyrazinone derivatives was developed. The synthetic route to benzo[h][1,6]naphthyridines involves the N-propargylation of aromatic aminobenzaldehydes, followed by reaction with propargylamine in the presence of DBU (1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0] undec-7ene). For the synthesis of chromenopyrazine and chromeno-pyrazinone derivatives, the acetonitrile group was introduced to salicylaldehyde derivatives, and a DBU-promoted cyclizati...
