The atom efficient synthesis of quinaldinium chlorochromate(VI), C10H9NH[CrO3Cl], (QnCC) was performed by using a 1:1:1 stoichiometric amounts of CrO3, HCl (aq) and quinaldine. QnCC was isolated in 99% yield as an orange crystalline solid and characterized with FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR. An efficient, selective, and environmentally friendly periodic acid (H5IO6) oxidation of alcohols catalyzed by QnCC (2 mol%) is described. Oxidation reactions of some primary and secondary alcohols to their corresponding aldehydes and ketones were performed under solvent-free conditions at room temperature and MW irradiation in high to excellent yields.

Sulfated zirconia in SBA-15 structures with strong Bronsted acidity as observed by H-1 MAS NMR spectroscopy
Yılmaz, Ayşen; Yılmaz, Aysun; Üner, Deniz (2007-05-01)
In order to prepare high surface area highly acidic catalysts, different weight loadings of ZrO2 were incorporated in the SBA-15 structures which are subsequently sulfated by treating in 0.25 M H2SO4. The catalysts were characterized by means of TEM, XRD, N-2 adsorption, and H-1 MAS NMR. Bronsted type acidities of sulfated zirconia included SBA-15 materials were identified by a sharp H-1 MAS NMR line at 10.6 ppm. The highest acidity was obtained in the 25 mol% ZrO2 included SBA-15 catalyst with a BET surfac...
Chloroacetonylation of C=C double bonds promoted by manganese(III) acetate
Dengiz, Çağatay; BALCI, METİN (2012-02-01)
The addition of acetylacetone to alkenes was performed using Mn(OAc)(3 center dot)2H(2)O in the presence of HCl. The intermediate formed was trapped by chloride. Removal of one of the acetyl groups with ammonia under very mild conditions provided compounds derived from chloroacetonylation of the double bonds.
HEXACHLOROCYCLOPENTADIENE IN DIELS-ALDER ASYMMETRIC REACTION
AKHMEDOV, IM; PEYNIRCIOGLU, B; MAMEDOV, EG; Tanyeli, Cihangir; DEMIR, AS (1994-02-14)
Asymmetric thermal Diels-Alder reactions with chiral dienophiles l-menthyl acrylate and l-menthyl allyl ether, using hexachlorocyclopentadiene (HCC) gave cycloadducts of up to 15%ee. Milder reaction conditions achieved by the use of Lewis acid catalysis increased the optical yields up to 2.8 fold. The catalyzed and uncatalyzed reactions using l-menthyl acrylate result in the formation of adducts having opposite configurations. The products have also been resolved via diastereomer formation as pure enantiomers.
Propylene Epoxidation: High-Throughput Screening of Supported Metal Catalysts Combinatorially Prepared by Rapid Sol-Gel Method
Önal, Işık; Seubsai, Anusorn; Kahn, Michael; ŞEKER, EROL; Senkan, Selim (2010-02-01)
The gas phase oxidation of propylene using molecular oxygen was studied on a variety of supported metal catalysts. The most promising PO activity was obtained for Cu supported on high surface area SiO(2) and the multimetallic systems exhibit synergistic effects that increased the desired PO yield by several folds for Ag promoted with Cu on SiO(2) after screening a large number of catalysts by a high throughput testing technique.
Ternary Polyaniline@Bi2O3-BiOCl Nanocomposites as Innovative Highly Active Photocatalysts for the Removal of the Dye under Solar Light Irradiation
Bouzıanı, Asmae; Yahya, Mohamed; Bianchi, Claudia L.; Falletta, Ermelinda; Çelik, Gökhan (2023-2-01)
Ternary PANI@Bi2O3-BiOCl nanocomposites were successfully synthesized during the oxidative polymerization of aniline monomer in the presence of Bi2O3. PANI@Bi2O3-BiOCl nanocomposites were characterized by several analytical techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), N2 physisorption, UV–Vis Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscopy with energy dis...
