A novel benzenediamine‐benzodithiophene polymer is synthesized for use in biosensor fabrication for the detection of testosterone. The sensory platform is constructed via drop coating on a screen‐printed carbon electrode, using poly(benzenediamine‐Bis[(2‐ethylhexyl)oxy]benzodithiophene) (pBDBT) as the polymer layer. Testosterone antibodies are immobilized on the polymer‐coated electrode surface via glutaraldehyde, which binds to the surface through the amino functional groups on the polymer backbone. The changes in the surface features due to testosterone binding are investigated via electrochemical techniques such as differential pulse voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectrometry as well as contact angle measurements. Surface morphology of the modified electrodes is characterized by atomic force microscopy. The linear range and limit of detection of the sensor are calculated. Impact of possible interfering compounds is investigated. Furthermore, the sensory platform is utilized for testosterone analysis in synthetic biological fluids.

A novel multi-electrochromic polymer based on selenophene and benzotriazole via electrochemical and chemical polymerization
Demir, Fatma; Keles, Duygu; Karabag, Aliekber; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Informa UK Limited, 2019-03-04)
In this study, a novel donor-acceptor type monomer was designed based on selenophene and benzotriazole with a bulky pendant group and synthesized through Stille coupling reaction. The monomer was polymerized electrochemically by using cyclic voltammetry and also chemically by oxidation in the presence of FeCl3. Both polymers were then compared in terms of their optical properties, electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical behaviors, kinetic and colorimetric properties and surface morphologies. Independent ...
A bio-sensing platform utilizing a conjugated polymer, carbon nanotubes and PAMAM combination
Buber, Ece; Kesik, Melis; Soylemez, Saniye; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2017-08-15)
In this study, amperometric biosensing performance of a novel platform utilizing a conducting polymer (CP), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer was constructed. In order to fabricate the proposed biosensor, a graphite electrode was modified with poly[9,9-di-(2-ethylhexyl)-fluorenyl-2,7-diyl] end capped with N,N-bis(4-methylphenyl)-4-aniline (PFLA), MWCNTs and PAMAM, respectively. Then, GOx was immobilized onto the modified surface with the help of glutaraldehyde (GA...
Characterization and Electrical Conductivity of Poly(ethylene glycol)/Polyacrylonitrile/Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube Composites
Aqeel, Salem M.; Kucukyavuz, Zuhal (Wiley, 2011-01-05)
Polymer blends based on poly(ethylene glycol), polyacrylonitrile, and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were prepared by the solvent cast technique from the dispersion of the MWNTs in the concentration range 0-3.45 wt %. The interaction of the MWNTs with the polymer blend was confirmed by a Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy study. The thermal properties of the polymer blend with the MWNTs were carried out by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It was evident from DSC that the p...
Preparation and Comparison of Two Electrodes for Supercapacitors: Pani/CNT/Ni and Pani/Alizarin-Treated Nickel
Koysuren, Ozcan; Du, Chunsheng; Pan, Ning; Bayram, Göknur (Wiley, 2009-07-15)
Polyaniline in emeraldine form was synthesized in the presence of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and the electrochemical capacitance performance of thus formed composite as electrode material has been Studied. The polyaniline/carbon nanotubes (Pani/CNT) composite is found to result in a higher specific capacitance than that of either composite constituent, attributable to the double-layer capacitance behavior of the nanotubes in the Pani/CNT system. However, once assembled into a two-electrode cell, l...
A novel electrochromic and fluorescent polythienylpyrrole bearing 1,1 '-bipyrrole
CİHANER, ATİLLA; Mert, Olcay; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (Elsevier BV, 2009-01-30)
A novel conducting polymer was successfully synthesized via electropolymerization of 1-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole. The electrochemical and electro-optical properties of the corresponding polymer, which was the first example of polymer containing 1,1'-bipyrrole units, were elaborated using electroanalytical and spectroscopic techniques. Cyclic voltammograms and electro-optical studies showed that the polymer has a stable and well-defined reversible redox process as well as electrochrom...
