Interaction between micro and nano patterned polymeric surfaces and different cell types
Özçelik, Hayriye; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat; Padeste, Calestino; Department of Biology (2012)
Micro and nanopatterned surfaces are powerful experimental platforms for investigating the mechanisms of cell adhesion, cell orientation, differentiation and they enable significant contributions to the fields of basic cell and stem cell biology, and tissue engineering. In this study, interaction between micro and nanopatterned polymeric surfaces and different cell types was investigated. Three types of micropillars were produced by photolithography (Type 1-3), while nanometer sized pillars were produced in...

Synthesis and characterization of metal functional polybenzoxazines /
Orhan Lekesiz, Tuğba; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Kayran, H. Ceyhan; Department of Chemistry (2014)
Polybenzoxazines possessing excellent mechanical and physical properties has been developed to overcome the shortcomings associated with the use of traditional phenolics. Various approaches for performance improvement of polybenzoxazine were examined. These approaches include alloying with other high performance polymers, hybridization with inorganics, and designing of novel monomers as well as high molecular weight polymeric precursors. In the first part of this work, benzoxazines based on phenol and anili...
Growth of spinodal instabilities in nuclear matter. II. Asymmetric matter
ACAR, FERİDE PINAR; Ayik, S.; Yılmaz, Osman; GÖKALP, AHMET (2015-09-11)
As an extension of our previous work, the growth of density fluctuations in the spinodal region of charge asymmetric nuclear matter is investigated in the basis of the stochastic mean-field approach in the nonrelativistic framework. A complete treatment of density correlation functions is presented by including collective modes and noncollective modes.
Design and implementation of A MEMS based gravimetric detector for cytometry applications
Bayraktar, Ekrem; Bayraktar, Ekrem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2010)
This thesis reports design and implementation of a MEMS based gravimetric resonator for cytometry applications. There are mainly two objectives of this thesis; to enable in-flow analysis and to perform closed loop operation that does not require any additional processing or equipment. A novel MEMS based resonator with in-flow capabilities is proposed for detection of agents inside micro channels. High resolution of mass detection inside micro channels is planned to be succeeded with lateral motion in the mi...
