A new tetrakis 4-(2,5-di-2-thiophen-2-yl-pyrrol-1-yl) substituted nickel phthalocyanine (NiPc-SNS) was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), and UV-vis spectroscopies. The electrochemical polymerization of this newly synthesized NiPc-SNS was performed in dichloromethane (DCM)/tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (TBAP) solvent/electrolyte couple. An insoluble film was deposited on the electrode surface, both during repetitive cycling and constant potential electrolysis at 0.85 V. Resulting polymer film, P(NiPc-SNS), was characterized utilizing UV-vis and FT-IR spectroscopic techniques and its electrochemical behavior was investigated via cyclic voltammetry (CV). Spectroelectrochemical behavior of the polymer film on indium tin oxide (ITO) working electrode was investigated by recording the electronic absorption spectra, in situ, in monomer-free electrolytic solution at different potentials and it is found that the P(NiPc-SNS) film can be reversibly cycled between 0.0 and 1.1 V and exhibits electrochromic behavior; dark olive green in the neutral and dark blue in the oxidized states with a switching time of 1.98 s. Furthermore, the band gap of P(NiPc-SNS) was calculated as 2.27 eV from the onset of pi-pi* transition of the conjugated backbone. (C) 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Kinetic study of the reaction between hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene and isophorone diisocyanate in bulk by quantitative FTIR spectroscopy
Kincal, D; Özkar, Saim (Wiley, 1997-12-05)
A kinetic study of the reaction between a hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) was carried out in the bulk state by using quantitative Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy. The reaction is shown to obey a second-order rate law, being first order in both the HTPB and IPDI concentrations. The activation parameters obtained from the evaluation of kinetic data are Delta H-double dagger = 41.1 +/- 0.4 kJ mol, Delta S-double dagger = -198 +/- 2 J K-1 mol(-1) and E-a...
Thermal stability and decomposition mechanism of poly(p-acryloyloxybenzoic acid and poly(p-methacryloyloxybenzoic acid) and their graft copolymers with polypropylene, Part II
Cetin, S.; Tincer, T. (Wiley, 2008-04-05)
Thermal stability and decomposition mechanism of poly(p-acryloyloxybenzoic) acid (PABA), p-methacryloyloxybenzoic acid (PMBA), and their graft coproducts of PP were studied by differential scanning calorimetry, direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry, and TG/IR system, combined thermogravimetric analyzer, and FTIR spectrometer. The homopolymers and corresponding grafts were found to be stable in nitrogen atmosphere but started to decompose under atmospheric conditions when heated above 230 degrees C. PABA and PA...
Synthesis of N-polyethereal polypyrroles and their application for the preconcentration of rare earth ions
Koksel, Bahar; CİHANER, ATİLLA; Kaya, Murat; Volkan, Mürvet; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Wiley, 2008-05-15)
Conducting polymers containing polyether pseudocages (PI, PII, PIII) have been synthesized via chemical oxidation of 1,5-bis(1,1-pyrrole)-3-oxabutane (MI), 1,8-bis(I,I-pyrrole)-3,6-dioxahexane (MII), and 1,11-bis(1,1-pyrrole)-3,6,9-trioxaundecane (MIII) using anhydrous FeCl3 in CHCl3. Because as obtained polymer resins did not give any response toward any cations, they were reduced (undoped) using chemical reducing agents. Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide was found to be more effective in undoping to obtain mor...
Preparation and Comparison of Two Electrodes for Supercapacitors: Pani/CNT/Ni and Pani/Alizarin-Treated Nickel
Koysuren, Ozcan; Du, Chunsheng; Pan, Ning; Bayram, Göknur (Wiley, 2009-07-15)
Polyaniline in emeraldine form was synthesized in the presence of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and the electrochemical capacitance performance of thus formed composite as electrode material has been Studied. The polyaniline/carbon nanotubes (Pani/CNT) composite is found to result in a higher specific capacitance than that of either composite constituent, attributable to the double-layer capacitance behavior of the nanotubes in the Pani/CNT system. However, once assembled into a two-electrode cell, l...
A new soluble conducting polymer and its electrochromic devices
YİLDİZ, UMİT HAKAN; SAHİN, ELİF; Akhmedov, IM; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 2006-04-01)
A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by both chemical and electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 1-(1-phenylethyl)-2,5-di(2-thienyl)-1H-pyrrole (PETPy). Of which the chemical method produces a polymer that is completely soluble in organic solvents. The structures of both the monomer and the soluble polymer were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1 and C-13 NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The average molecular weight has been determined by gel permeation chrom...
