Electrochemical copolymerizations of 2,3-di(2-thienyl)quinoxaline (M1), 6-methyl-2,3-di(2-thienyl)quinoxaline (M2), and 2,3-di(2-thienyl)quinoxaline-6-yl)(phenyl)methanone (M3) with 3,4-ethylenedioxy thiophene (EDOT) were carried out in CH3CN/TBABF(4) (0.1M) solvent-electrolyte couple via potentiodynamic electrolysis. The obtained copolymers were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetry analyses (TGA). The conductivity measurements of copolymers and PEDOT were performed by the four-probe technique. (C) 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 120: 1713-1719, 2011

Processing and properties of modified polyamide 66-organoclay nanocomposites
Mert, Miray; Yılmazer, Ülkü (Wiley, 2008-06-15)
Binary polyamide 66 nanocomposites containing 2 wt % organoclay, polyamide 66 blend containing 5 wt % impact modifier, and ternary polyamide 66 nanocomposites containing 2 wt % organoclay and 5 wt % impact modifier were prepared by melt compounding method. The effects of E-GMA and the types of the organoclays on the interaction between the organoclay and the polymer, dispersion of the organoclay, morphology, mechanical, flow, and thermal properties of the nanocomposites were investigated. Partial exfoliatio...
Preparation and Characterization of Polypropylene/Serpentine Composites
Tan, Semra; Tincer, İsmail Teoman (Wiley, 2011-07-15)
Composites of serpentine and polypropylene (PP) were prepared by twin-screw extrusion. Serpentine was collected as rocks from the Ankara-Beynam region and ground into powder with an average particle size of about 3 mu m for composite production. Both as-received (rock) and powdered serpentine were characterized. A silane coupling agent (SCA), gamma-aminopropyl triethoxy silane, was used for the surface treatment of serpentine. Mechanical properties of the composites were measured in terms of impact strength...
Synthesis of benzimidazole containing donor acceptor electrochromic polymers
Akpınar, Hava Zekiye; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2011)
Donor-acceptor-donor (DAD) type benzimidazole (BIm) and 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) bearing monomers (4-(2,3-Dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-7-(2,3 dihydrothieno[3,4b][1,4] dioxin-7-yl)-2-benzyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (M1), 2,4-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-7-(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-7-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (M2) and 4-(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-7-(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-7-yl)-2-ferrocenyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (M3)) were synthesized and el...
Synthesis and Characterization of a New Conducting Polymer Based on 4-(2,5-di-2-thiophen-2-yl-pyrrol-1-yl)-phthalonitrile
Yavuz, Arzu; Bezgin, Buket; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Wiley, 2009-12-05)
A new conducting polymer was synthesized by electrochemical polymerization of 4-(2,5-di-2-thiophen-2-yl-pyrrol-1-yl)-2-phthalonitrile (SNS-PN). Electrochemical polymerization of SNS-PN was performed in acetonitrile/0.2M LiClO4 solvent/electrolyte couple. Characterizations of the resulting polymer P(SNS-PN) were carried out by cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic techniques. Spectroelectrochemical studies revealed that P(SNS-PN) has an electronic band gap of 2.45 eV...
Synthesis and optical properties of light-emitting π-conjugated polymers containing biphenyl and dithienosilole
LIAO, Liang; Çırpan, Ali; CHU, Qinghui; KARASZ, Frank E.; PANG, YI (Wiley, 2007-05-15)
Copolymers containing oligo(phenylene vinylene) (2.5), fluorene, and 4,4-dihexyldithienosilole (DTS) units were synthesized and characterized. The pi-conjugated monomers were joined with the palladium(0)-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction, thus forming either biphenyl- or phenyl-thiophene linkages. These polymers were photoluminescent, with the fluorescent quantum efficiency between 54 and 63% and with),lambda(max) for fluorescence at similar to 448 nm in tetrahydrofuran. The presence of 5% DTS in t...
