In the present study. the possibility to reuse the indigo dyeing rinsing wastewater originating from a denim textile mill was investigated. Coagulation and filtration processes were selected as the pretreatment alternatives and applied to dyeing wastewater samples. Both physicochemical pretreatment alternatives and nanofiltration technique were optimized to produce an effluent satisfying the reuse criteria for the textile industry. The results showed that coagulation is not all effective and efficient pretreatment due to high dose of coagulant requirement. Microfiltration (MF) through 0.45 mu m pore-sized membrane provided 64%) removal in color and 29%. removal in COD leading to a color value of 2493 Pt-Co and COD of 892 mg/L in the permeate. Furthermore, ultrafiltration (UF) applied after MF revealed additional 62% color and 4% COD removals leading to a color value of 960 Pt-Co and COD of '856 mg/L. Hence, the sequential application of MF and UF and only MF as pretreatment alternatives were found to be promising prior to the application of nanofiltration (NF). NF experiments conducted using pretreated wastewater via only MF provided 99% color and 97% COD removals leading to a color of 15 Pt-Co and a COD of 20 mg/L and hence sequential application of MF and NF was found to be the optimum treatment scheme for the reuse of the dyeing wastewater of the Studied textile mill and reuse criteria was satisfied.

Preparation and characterization of supported PES membranes
TOPUZ, BERNA; Yılmaz, Levent; Kalıpçılar, Halil (Journal of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Gazi University, 2019-01-01)
In the present study. polyethersulfone (PES) membranes on a macroporous alumina support was prepared by solvent-deposition method to separate H-2/CH4 mixture. The membrane solution viscosities were determined in order to understand the effect of PES concentration on the formation of selective membranes over a support. Supported PES membranes were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and single gas permeability measurements of H-2 and CH4. The membrane casting solution...
Powder metallurgy of high density W-Ni-Cu alloys
Çalışkan, Necmettin Kaan; Bor, Şakir; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2006)
In the present study; the effects of the powder metallurgical parameters such as the mixing method, compaction pressure, initial tungsten (W) particle size, composition, sintering temperature and sintering time on the sintering behavior of selected high density W-Ni-Cu alloys were investigated. The alloys were produced through conventional powder metallurgy route of mixing, cold compaction and sintering. The total solute (Ni-Cu) content in the produced alloys was kept constant at 10 wt%, while the copper co...
Alu insertion polymorphisms in Anatolian Turks
Dinç, Havva; Togan, İnci Zehra; Department of Biological Sciences (2003)
In the present study; ten autosomal human-specific Alu insertion polymorphisms; ACE, APO, A25, B65, D1, FXIIIB, HS4.32, HS4.69, PV92 and TPA25 were analyzed in approximately 100 unrelated individuals from Anatolia. Alu insertion polymorphisms offer several advantages over other nuclear DNA polymorphisms for human evolution studies. The frequencies of the ten biallelic Alu insertions in Anatolians were calculated and all systems were found to be in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (p>0.05). By combining the result...

The purpose of the present study was mainly fourfold; 1) to examine the undergraduate students̕ level of academic procrastination in relation to gender; 2) to investigate the undergraduate students̕ prevalence of procrastination in relation to gender in six areas of academic functioning namely; writing a term paper, studying for an exam, keeping up reading weekly assignments, performing academic administrative tasks, attendance tasks, and school activities in general; 3) to find out the relationship between...
Modelling Energy Consumption of the Republic of Serbia using Linear Regression and Artificial Neural Network Technique
Protic, Milan; Fathurrahman, Fahman; Raos, Miomir (Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Slavonski Brod, 2019-02-01)
The objectives of the study are twofold. First, we aim to examine the most influential socio-economic indicators to explain energy consumption in Republic of Serbia. The second objective is to develop models that are able to predict the future energy consumption in the Republic of Serbia. This could be the first important step towards proper energy management in the country. Several potential socio-economic indicators are selected to be the independent variables. Regression analysis is conducted to select t...
