Synthesis of a siloxane polymer with pyrrole end groups has been described. Electrochemical block polymerization of pyrrole through these end groups has been achieved. Characterization of the electrolytic products has been performed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetry analysis (TGA) analyses and FT-IR studies. The effects of different dopant ions, namely, p-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA) and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB), in electropolymerization and conductivities of the corresponding block copolymers have been investigated. Synthesis and characterization of a new copolymer of PTSA doped polypyrrole
Levent, A.; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yagci, Y. (2003-04-04)
In this work poly(2-methylbutyl 2-(3-thienyl)acetate was prepared by galvanostatic polymerization of (S)-2-methylbutyl 2-(3-thienyl) acetate. Polypyrrole was electrochemically polymerized on a poly(2-methylbutyl 2-(3-thienyl)-acetate) coated anode through the thiophene moities of the matrix polymer. Direct insertion probe pyrolysis MS and Curie point pyrolysis GCMS techniques were utilized for structural and thermal characterizations.
Synthesis and electropolymerization of 5,12-dihydrothieno[3 ',4 ': 2,3][1,4]dioxocino[6,7-b]-quinoxaline and its electrochromic properties
Ak, Mine Sulak; Ak, Metin; Guellue, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2007-08-01)
Synthesis of a new thiophene-based monomer; 5,12-dihydrothieno[3',4':2,3][1,4]dioxocino[6,7-b]quinoxaline (DDQ), was realized. The chemical structure of the monomer was characterized by H-1 NMR, FTIR and mass spectroscopy techniques. Electrochemical polymerization of DDQ and characterization of the resulting polymer [P(DDQ)] was performed. Moreover, the spectroelectrochemical and electrochromic properties of the polymer film were investigated. P(DDQ) has a low oxidation potential (0.9 V) and low band gap (1...
Characterization of doped polypyrrole-poly(methylthienyl methacrylate) films via pyrolysis mass spectrometry
Athar, Imran; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2004-07-01)
This work presents the characterization of p-toluene sulfonate doped polypyrrole-poly(methylthienyl methacrylate) films synthesized by electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole on a poly(methylthienyl methacrylate) coated anode. Pyrolysis mass spectrometry was used to characterize the polymer. The study was focused on the influence of each of the components on the thermal degradation behaviour of the other. The results indicated that decomposition of the matrix polymer, ie poly(methylthienyl methacrylate), ...
Synthesis and electroactivity of pyrrole end-functionalized poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline)
Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil; YAGCI, Y (2001-11-01)
Poly (2-methyl-2-oxazoline) (PMeOZO) with pyrrole end groups was synthesized by cationic ring polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline initiated by benzyl bromide and subsequent modification of the halide end group. The structure and electroactivity of the macromonomer thus obtained were confirmed by spectral analysis and cyclic voltametry, respectively. The posssibility of chemical and electrochemical graft copolymerization of PMeOZO with pyrrole was also studied.
Synthesis and characterization of conducting copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups and pyrrole
Sahmetlioglu, E; Yuruk, H; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Cianga, I; Yagci, Y (2004-12-01)
Graft copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups and pyrrole were synthesized by electrochemical polymerization methods. Poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups (PVATh) was obtained from the reaction between poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and thiophene-3-acetic acid. The syntheses of copolymers Of PVATh and pyrrole were achieved electrochemically by using three different supporting electrolytes, p-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluo...
