Physical Properties and Cure Characteristics of Natural Rubber/Nanoclay Composites with Two Different Compatibilizers
Dogan, Mehmet; Oral, Demet Dengiz; Yilmaz, Betul; Savu, Melih; Karahan, Selcuk; Bayramlı, Erdal (Wiley, 2011-08-05)
The effects of epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) and maleic anhydride-grafted polybutadiene (PB-g-MA) as compatibilizers to rubber formulations with and without organo-modified layered silicates are investigated. The physical properties and curing characteristics of composites are studied by moving die rheometer, rubber process analyzer, tensile, tear, and hardness testing. The state of organoclay intercalation was determined by X-ray diffraction method. The addition of compatibilizers, especially ENR 50, res...

Physical and thermal properties of pine-needle lightweight loam
Aslan Pedergnana, Ece; Elias Özkan, Soofia Tahira; Department of Building Science in Architecture (2015)
Lightweight loam (LWL) is an ancient earth-based insulation material. Different types of LWL have been developed according to the usage and the availability of materials. However, the most used is straw and LWL is better known as straw-clay or slip-straw. In Turkey, straw is a valuable material used as an animal fodder. On the other hand, pine-needles are available in large quantities in Turkey. Production of mud-bricks and traditional mud roof insulation with pine-needles has proven its compatibility with ...
Physical and chemical properties of selected Turkish lignites and their pyrolysis and gasification rates determined by thermogravimetric analysis
Cakal, Gaye O.; Yücel, Hayrettin; Guruz, A. Guniz (2007-08-01)
Pyrolysis and CO(2)-gasification behavior of lignites representing four different deposits in Turkey were investigated by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) in the temperature range from 750 degrees C to 1000 degrees C. The rates of pyrolysis and CO(2)-gasification were evaluated from the corresponding TGA profiles. As expected, maximum pyrolysis rates for each coal were shown to be constant with respect to the final carbonization temperature. Lignites used in this study are from the tertiary period, chosen f...
Physical, antimicrobial and antibiofilm properties of Zataria multiflora Boiss essential oil nanoemulsion
Shahabi, Nasim; Tajik, Hossein; Moradi, Mehran; Forough, Mehrdad; Ezati, Parya (2017-07-01)
It was evaluated physical, antibacterial and antibiofilm properties of Zataria multiflora Boiss essential oil (ZEO) and its nanoemulsion. Long-term stability of nanoemulsion prepared by emulsion phase inversion was satisfying based on low narrow size distribution (polydispersity index 0.2) and low droplet size (200nm) over 21 days of storage. Nanoemulsion showed lower minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) on Listeria monocytogenes (2500 mu gmL(-1)) than Salmonella Typhimurium (5000 mu gmL(-1)). Killing kin...
