Conducting polymer grafts of pyrrole and poly[(methyl methacrylate)-co-(2-(N-pyrrolyl) ethyl methacrylate)] containing 0.7% PEMA units were prepared by potentiostatic anodic polymerization of pyrrole in different electrolytic media. Grafting between copolymer and pyrrole was achieved in media where tetrabutylammonium fluoroborate and sodium perchlorate were used as the supporting electrolytes. Characterizations were made by using FT-IR, DSC, TGA, SEM, CV, and elemental analysis. The conductivities of the resultant polymers seemed to be in the order of pure polypyrrole prepared under the same conditions. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.

Asymmetric synthesis of N-aryl substituted chiral 1,4-aminoalcohol derivatives and applications in various asymmetric transformation reactions
Odabaş, Serhat; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2007)
The asymmetric synthesis of N-aryl substituted chiral 1,4-aminoalcohols and their applications in asymmetric borane reduction and enantioselective diethylzinc addition to benzaldehyde reactions were performed starting from meso-anhydride 51 that is the cycloadduct of cyclopentadiene and maleic anhydride. The desymmetrization of meso-anhydride 51 was achieved by using quinine or quinidine with very high enantiomeric excess value (up to 98% ee) and with high chemical yield. The quinine-mediated desymmetrizati...
Electrochemical and optical properties of novel terthienyl based azobenzene, coumarine and fluorescein containing polymers: Multicolored electrochromic polymers
Yigit, Deniz; Udum, Yasemin Arslan; GÜLLÜ, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2014-01-01)
Three electroactive terthienyl based monomers, namely 1-phenyl-2-[4-(2,2':5',2 ''-terthien-3'-ylmethoxy)phenyl]diazene (TTAz), 4-(2,2':5',2 ''-terthien-3'-ylmethoxy)-2H-chromen-2-one (TTCo) and methyl 2-[3-oxo-6-(2,2':5',2 ''-terthien-3'-ylmethoxy)-3H-xanthen-9-yl] benzoate (TTFlo), were synthesized with good yields and their conducting polymers were electrochemically prepared on ITO electrode surfaces. The effect of chromophore type on electrochemical and optical properties of the polymers was investigated...
Polyaniline: synthesis characterization solution properties and composites
Yılmaz, Faris; Küçükyavuz, Zuhal; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2007)
Polyaniline was chemically synthesized at three different temperatures of 25, 0, and -25oC, by oxidative polymerization with ammonium peroxidisulfate at equimolar of aniline to oxidant ratio and 1M HCl. The resulted polyaniline was in a powder form which was characterized by several techniques such as: electrical conductivity, elemental analysis, thermal analysis, wide-angle X-Ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope. The solution properties of the reduced polymer were studied by viscometry, static...
Clean and efficient microwave-solvent-free conversion of homochiral amines, alpha-amino alcohols and alpha-amino acids to their chiral 2-substituted pyrrole derivatives
Aydogan, F; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (Elsevier BV, 2005-03-21)
Efficient synthesis of 1,2-disubstituted homochiral pyrroles has been achieved by a two-component coupling of chloroenones and amine compounds on the surface of silica gel without any solvent under microwave irradiation.
Immobilization of Invertase in a Novel Proton Conducting Poly(vinylphosphonic acid) - poly(1-vinylimidazole) Network
Isikli, Suheda; Tuncagil, Sevinc; Bozkurt, Ayhan; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
A novel proton conducting polymer blend was prepared by mixing poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA) with poly(1-vinylimidazole) (PVI) at various stoichiometric ratios via changing molar ratio of monomer repeating unit to achieve the highest protonation. The polymer network having the most suitable stoichiometric ratio for substantial proton conductivity was prepared and characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and proton conductivity measurements. The network was used for immobilization of invertase and some import...
