THE ROLE OF SI ADDITION ON THE INTERFACIAL INTERACTION IN FE-AL DIFFUSION LAYER

The Role of Electrolyte Composition on Codeposited Ag and Cu
ulu, fulya; Demici, Gokhan; ERDOĞAN, METEHAN; Karakaya, İshak (The Electrochemical Society, 2016-09-01)
The eutectic Ag-Cu composition is a common brazing alloy. A complex ion bath containing KAg(CN)2, CuCN, KCN and K4P2O7 was used to codeposit Ag and Cu. The effects of KAg(CN)2, KCN and K4P2O7 concentrations on the composition and morphology of electrodeposited Ag-Cu films was investigated in this study. A constant CuCN concentration of 0.1 M was used. The increase in KCN and KAg(CN)2 concentrations caused major increases in Ag contents, but increase in K4P2O7 concentration caused a minor decrease in Ag cont...
The use of Silicon Wafer Barriers in the Electrochemical Reduction of Solid Silica to Form Silicon in Molten Salts
Akpınar, Burcu; ERDOĞAN, MUSTAFA; Akduman, B.; Karakaya, İshak (2017-06-01)
Nowadays, silicon is the most critical element in solar cells and/or solar chips. Silicon having 98 to 99% Si as being metallurgical grade, requires further refinement/purification processes such as zone refining [1,2] and/or Siemens process [3] to upgrade it for solar applications. A promising method, based on straightforward electrochemical reduction of oxides by FFC Cambridge Process [4], was adopted to form silicon from porous SiO2 pellets in molten CaCl2 and CaCl2-NaCl salt mixture [5]. It was reported...
Effect of thermal neutron irradiation on the elastic constants of tourmaline
Özkan, H. (Informa UK Limited, 1987-2)
The effect of thermal neutron irradiation due to the B10(n, α)Li7 reaction on the elastic wave velocities and the elastic moduli of tourmaline crystals has been studied. Oriented tourmaline samples have been irradiated with thermal neutrons to 7.6 × 1018n/cm2 and the elastic wave velocities determined by ultrasonic measurements. The elastic wave velocities are not affected by thermal neutron irradiation below 8 × 10l7n/cm2, effects starting to appear at approximately 1 × l018n/cm2 with more important decrea...
A model study on the effects of wall stiffness and surcharge on dynamic lateral earth pressures
Çilingir, Ulaş; Özkan, M. Yener; Department of Civil Engineering (2005)
A model study on laterally braced sheet pile walls retaining cohesionless soil was conducted using 1-g shaking table. Lateral dynamic earth pressures, backfill accelerations and dynamic displacement of walls were measured. Input accelerations were kept between 0.03g to 0.27g. A data acquisition system consisting of dynamic pressure transducers, accelerometers, displacement transducer, signal conditioning board and a data acquisition card compatible with a personal computer was used during the study. Three d...
