The aim of this paper is to apply an electromagnetic target recognition method, which is based on the use of fused MUSIC spectrum matrices, to the case of incomplete frequency domain data. The aforementioned method was suggested recently and succesfully applied to both canonical and complicated targets in the presence of complete frequency domain data [1]. However, most of the real world applications involve the use of severely incomplete frequency data, especially missing low frequency information. In this paper, the performance of mentioned target recognition method is investigated for various incomplete frequency bands and for a group of five small-scale aircraft targets. As a result, the mentioned target recognition method is demonstrated to give still high correct decision rates even when the frequency band is reduced by 300 MHz at low frequency end and at the signal-to-noise ratio is decreased down to -5 dB level.

Different from previous automatic but offline annotation systems, this paper studies automatic and online face annotation for personal videos/episodes of TV series considering Nearest Neighbourhood, LDA and SVM classification with Local Binary Patterns, Discrete Cosine Transform and Histogram of Oriented Gradients feature extraction methods in terms of their recognition accuracies and execution times. The best performing feature extraction method and the classifier pair is found out to be SVM classification...
MDS Matrices Over Rings For Designing Lightweight Block Cİpher
Yetişer, Gökçe; Yayla, Oğuz; Department of Cryptography (2021-9-30)
The primary intention of this thesis is to generate lightened Maximum Distance Separable (MDS) matrices so as not to have a high implementation cost while providing solid diffusion to a cipher. In this direction, lightweight cryptography along with the current capabilities of devices and some design principles and permutation layer is given briefly. Next, the diffusion property of block cipher design is studied, where the permutation layer is generally an invertible linear transformation, and they are gener...
Frame synchronization in OFDM systems
Gürsan, Hakan Yesari; Tuncer, Temel Engin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
In this thesis, we considered the problem of frame synchronization and channel estimation in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Since framing error may cause severe ISI and may disturb the orthogonality of the subcarriers, frame synchronization must be accomplished at the OFDM receiver. Furthermore, the effects of channel must be compensated to obtain the symbols accurately. We investigated several frame synchronization algorithms including a maximum likelihood (ML) synchronizer whic...
Computational simulation and realization of three-dimensional metamaterials with various exotic properties
İbili, Hande; Ergül, Özgür Salih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
In this study, computational analysis and realization of three-dimensional metamaterial structures that induce negative and zero permittivity and/or permeability values in their host environment, as well as plasmonic nanoparticles that are used to design metamaterials at optical frequencies are presented. All these electromagnetic problems are challenging since effective material properties become negative/zero, while numerical solvers are commonly developed for ordinary positive parameters. In real life, t...
Investigation of music algorithm based and wd-pca method based electromagnetic target classification techniques for their noise performances

Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) Algorithm based and Wigner Distribution-Principal Component Analysis (WD-PCA) based classification techniques are very recently suggested resonance region approaches for electromagnetic target classification. In this thesis, performances of these two techniques will be compared concerning their robustness for noise and their capacity to handle large number of candidate targets. In this context, classifier design simulations will be demonstrated for target libraries con...
