A systematic review of the reliability of objective structured clinical examination scores
Brannick, Michael T.; Erol-Korkmaz, H. Tugba; Prewett, Matthew (2011-12-01)
CONTEXT The objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) is comprised of a series of simulations used to assess the skill of medical practitioners in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. It is often used in high-stakes examinations and therefore it is important to assess its reliability and validity.
A QSAR study of the biological activities of some benzimidazoles and imidazopyridines against Bacillus subtilis
Ertepınar, Hamide; Gök, Yaşar; Geban, Ömer; Özden, Seçkin (1995-04-01)
A set of benzimidazole (I) and imidazopyridine (II) derivatives that have previously been tested for their antibacterial activities against Bacillus subtilis were analyzed using the quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) method. The activity contributions for structural and substituent effects were determined from the correlation equations, which were derived using all possible combination and stepwise regression techniques. The best equation was chosen among the other equations by considering ...
Altered apolipoprotein C expression in association with cognition impairments and hippocampus volume in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
Knoechel, Christian; Kniep, Jonathan; Cooper, Jason D.; Stablein, Michael; Wenzler, Sofia; Sarlon, Jan; Prvulovic, David; Linden, David E. J.; Bahn, Sabine; Stocki, Pawel; Özcan Kabasakal, Süreyya; Alves, Gilberto; Carvalho, Andre F.; Reif, Andreas; Oertel-Knoechel, Viola (2017-04-01)
Proteomic analyses facilitate the interpretation of molecular biomarker probes which are very helpful in diagnosing schizophrenia (SZ). In the current study, we attempt to test whether potential differences in plasma protein expressions in SZ and bipolar disorder (BD) are associated with cognitive deficits and their underlying brain structures. Forty-two plasma proteins of 29 SZ patients, 25 BD patients and 93 non-clinical controls were quantified and analysed using multiple reaction monitoring-based triple...
A test for detecting etiologic heterogeneity in epidemiological studies
Karagulle, S.; Kalaylıoğlu Akyıldız, Zeynep Işıl (2016-02-17)
Current statistical methods for analyzing epidemiological data with disease subtype information allow us to acquire knowledge not only for risk factor-disease subtype association but also, on a more profound account, heterogeneity in these associations by multiple disease characteristics (so-called etiologic heterogeneity of the disease). Current interest, particularly in cancer epidemiology, lies in obtaining a valid p-value for testing the hypothesis whether a particular cancer is etiologically heterogene...
Exploring the Role of Social Anhedonia in the Positive and Negative Dimensions of Schizotypy in a Non-Clinical Sample

Introduction: The present study aimed to investigate the role of social anhedonia, defined as the lack of ability to feel pleasure from interpersonal relationship, in a multidimensional model of schizotypy and to determine the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of Chapman's Revised Social Anhedonia Scale (SAS) in a non-clinical sample. Methods: Second-grade students of Ankara University Medical Faculty were recruited (n=266, Mage=20.28). Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to test schi...
