An Investigation of driver behaviors: their relationship with interpersonal problems and representations on the interpersonal circumplex
Özer, Özge; Öz, Bahar; Department of Psychology (2017)
The aim of the current study was to investigate the relationships between driver behaviors and interpersonal behaviors and detecting the positions of driver behaviors on interpersonal circumplex (IPC). Although there were many studies that explore the associations of driver behaviors with many different individual factors, driver behaviors are not studied directly with interpersonal problems. A total of 357 drivers (109 females, 246 males) participated in this study and they were given The Driver Behavior Q...
Representations of Personality Disorders Beliefs on Interpersonal Circumplex Model
Akyunus, Miray; Gençöz, Tülin (2016-06-01)
Cognitive Theory and Interpersonal Circumplex Model explaining cognitive and interpersonal patterns of personality disorders (PD) are well established in personality literature. The main objective of the study is to investigate the representations of personality beliefs defined by Cognitive Theory on the Interpersonal Circumplex space and to integrate these two models. Analyses were conducted with 962 adults of a community sample (302 men, 660 women) after the participants who are on psychiatric treatment o...
The Relationship between traumatic life experiences, locus of control and driver behaviors
Öz, Cansu; Özkan, Türker; Öz, Bahar; Department of Psychology (2016)
The aim of the current study was to investigate effects of traumatic life experience on driver behaviors by measuring their world assumption and posttraumatic growth and to evaluate indirect effect of locus of control between world assumptions and driver behaviors. The total of 533 Turkish drivers participated to study and they were assigned to study groups in terms of reported traumatic experience. In traffic trauma group, there was 120 drivers who reported experiencing only traffic accident. 231 drivers w...
Multidimensional Traffic Locus of Control Scale (T-LOC): factor structure and relationship to risky driving
Özkan, Türker (2005-02-01)
The aim of the present study was to develop a multidimensional instrument for measuring driver locus of control and to investigate the relationship between driver locus of control, risky driving and negative outcomes. Participants were young male (N = 216) and female (N = 132) drivers who completed a form including the newly developed Multidimensional Traffic Locus of Control Scale (T-LOC), Driver Behaviour Questionnaire (DBQ), and items related to drivers' driving records and demographics. Factor analysis ...
The Relationship between Dispositional Affect and Traffic Locus of Control in Driving
Arslan, Burcu (2021-10-01)
The locus of control and dispositional affect of drivers has been claimed to influence driver behaviors. The positive affect and internal locus of control were usually claimed to be related to safety behaviors, whereas negative affect and external locus of control were shown as related to risky behaviors. To investigate the locus of control in the traffic context, multidimensional traffic locus of control (T-LOC) was developed with four dimensions; self, other drivers, vehicle/environment, and fate. In the ...
