Cultural And Conceptual Frames For Architectural Criticism
Güzer, C.Abdi (1994-1-1)
Since the beginnings of seventies 'everyday architecture*, as a non-crilical and mass-produced form of architectural practice, is celebrating an acceleratingly dominant ground of freedom. The outcome of this liberation is a 'no-rule' architecture presenting itself as a sceneography based form-fetishism. The commodity based promolion of numerous 'isms' and their image-based mass productions remove architecture from being a critical practice and create a false consciousness due to its representative relations...
Place, Craft And The Ambiguity Of High-Tech
Bozdoğan, Sibel (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 1988)
The Development, implementation and evaluation of a case-based method in science education
Çakır, Özlem Sıla; Alpsan, Doğan; Berberoğlu, Giray; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2002)
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of case-based instruction, learning styles and gender on students' performance skills, higher order thinking skills, attitudes toward biology, and academic knowledge on nervous system. This study was carried out during 2000-2001 Fall Semester at Atatürk Anatolian High School. Seventyfour 10th grade students from the two different classes were involved in the study. One class was assigned as the experimental group, whereas the other class was assig...
Presence Of Culture In Architectural Education: A Case Study Of METU School Of Architecture
Pasha, Yasira Naeem (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2020-6-30)
The paper focuses on the relationship of architectural education and culture. While holding their distinctive backgrounds, these both entities are interconnected to each other. This study intends to explore some aspects of this connection through two main tools; firstly, the curriculum which is a structured way to disseminate knowledge in contemporary times, and secondly, structured questionnaires for faculty and students separately that are used as a source of primary data collection. The conceptual framew...
The Performance-Based Interlinked Model (PBIM) In Architectural Design: Exchanging Environmental, Structural And Spatial Parameters In The Early Design Stage
Yazıcı, Sevil (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2021-6-30)
The paper aims to present a model that generates a framework for incorporating different types of performance issues into the conceptual design to improve the decision-making process of students by extracting only the critical parameters and demonstrate its applicability in the context of architectural education. The proposed Performance-based Interlinked Model (PBIM) seeks to address the question of whether design and performance parameters can be evaluated together in the early design stage, where concept...
