Geothermal energy potential and utilization in Turkey
Taşdemiroğlu, Ersoy (Elsevier BV, 1988-3)
The regional distribution of the geothermal energy potential in Turkey, recent surveys, and utilization areas are described. The present and future roles of geothermal energy and their economic aspects are discussed. The implications of geothermal energy exploration and utilization are noted. Recommendations are made to expand geothermal-energy development.
Hydroelectric power potential and its use in Turkey
Taşdemiroğlu, Erol (Elsevier BV, 1988-7)
Hydroelectric development in Turkey is briefly reviewed. The results of estimates of gross and economically exploitable hydroelectric power potentials are compared. Dam sites and their order for construction are identified. Present and future developments in the power sector are analyzed and projections are given for electricity consumption and production to the year 2010. Hydraulic, thermal and nuclear contributions to total electricity generation are discussed. Finally, problems associated with hydroelect...
Turkey’s energy system development: Linking an energy supply model with an industrial simulation model and solving it iteratively
Gungor, Gorkem; Sarı, Ramazan (2018-01-01)
Turkey is in the progress to include nuclear energy to its electricity generation capacity. The energy modelling studies for Turkey mainly focus on usage of renewable energy and local fossil fuels and include nuclear power plants (NPP) only with their electricity generation capacities without taking into consideration the front- and back-ends of the nuclear fuel cycle. This study takes into consideration the life cycle assessment (LCA) of nuclear energy based on optimisation of energy system costs and usage...
Energy indicators for sustainable development: comparison of Turkey and selected european union countries
Toğçuoğlu, Mehlika Merve; Aşık, Serap; Akbostancı Özkazanç, Elif; Department of Economics (2011)
The aim of this study is to compare the sustainable development perspective of Turkey with selected European Union countries in terms of Energy Indicators for Sustainable Energy between 1980-2008. The study is conducted in a comparative and descriptive way by using energy indicators. The common energy policy priorities of Turkey and European Union are determined in the light of recent literature. An energy indicator set is constructed according to energy priorities, namely, energy efficiency and energy inte...
Preliminary Study on Site Selection For Floating Hybrid Wind And Solar Energy Systems In Turkey
Yerlikaya, Nevzat Can; Çakan, Çağatay; Başara, Ilgın; Caceoğlu, Eray; Huvaj Sarıhan, Nejan (2021-09-08)
It is well-known that even though fossil fuels are the main energy resource in Turkey, use of sustainable energy resources such as wind and solar energy has been increasing in the past years and expected to continue on this trend in the next years to come. The suitable land for land-based wind turbines and photovoltaic (PV) systems could also be convenient for various other purposes, such as agriculture. This study aims to investigate the suitable sites for a combined floating wind and solar systems in the ...
