Nanoceria supported rhodium(0) nanoparticles as catalyst for hydrogen generation from methanolysis of ammonia borane
Ozhava, Derya; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2018-12-05)
This work reports the preparation and catalytic use of nanoceria supported rhodium(0) nanoparticles, Rh(0)/nanoCeO(2), as catalyst for hydrogen generation from the methanolysis of ammonia borane. Rh(0)/nanoCeO(2) was in situ formed from the reduction of rhodium(II) octanoate on the surface of nanoceria during the catalytic methanolysis of ammonia borane at room temperature. The results of analysis using PXRD, TEM, STEM-EDS, XPS, SEM, SEM-EDX, N-2 adsorption-desorption and ICP-OES reveal that rhodium(0) nano...

Nanocomposite nafion and heteropolyacid incorporated mesoporous catalysts for dimethyl ether synthesis from methanol
Çiftçi, Ayşegül; Doğu, Timur; Department of Chemical Engineering (2009)
The need for alternative transportation fuels is rising with the rapid depletion of oil reserves and the simultaneous growth of the world’s population. Production of dimethyl ether, a non-petroleum derived attractive fuel-alternate for the future, is a challenging research area. Different routes and various solid-acid catalysts are being developed in order to achieve the most efficient way of synthesizing this potential diesel alternative fuel. The focus of heterogeneous catalysis is to convert renewable fe...
Nanoalumina supported palladium(0) nanoparticle catalyst for releasing H-2 from dimethylamine borane
KARABOĞA, SEDA; Özkar, Saim (2019-09-01)
Palladium(II) 2,4-pentanedionate, impregnated on alumina nanopowder, was reduced by dimethylamine borane (DMAB) forming Pd(0) nanoparticles (NPs) at room temperature. Pd(0) NPs could be isolated from solution and characterized by ATR-IR, UV-vis, XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS and BET. The results obtained from TEM images reveal the formation of palladium(0) nanoparticles on gamma-alumina, having a mean particle size of 7.1 +/- 2.6 nm. Alumina supported Pd(0) NPs with various metal loadings were employed as catalyst in ...
Nanoclay assisted strengthening of the fiber/matrix interface in functionally filled polyamide 6 composites
Isitman, Nihat Ali; AYKOL, Muratahan; Kaynak, Cevdet (Elsevier BV, 2010-08-01)
This study describes the contribution of a nano-filler, i.e. an organically modified layered silicate, in respect of the fiber/matrix interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of a short glass fiber reinforced and functionally filled polyamide 6, given an exfoliated nanocomposite morphology. Apparent IFSS values are determined using a continuum micromechanical method. Polymer chains in the nanoconfined environment of an exfoliated clay nanocomposite are found to crystallize preferentially in the form of a specific ...
