The main aim of this study is to identify the most influential variables that cause defects on the items produced by a casting company located in Turkey. To this end, one of the items produced by the company with high defective percentage rates is selected. Two approaches-the regression analysis and decision trees-are used to model the relationship between process parameters and defect types. Although logistic regression models failed, decision tree model gives meaningful results. Based on these results, it can be claimed that the decision tree approach is a promising technique for determining the most important process variables.

Floating photovoltaic site selection using fuzzy rough numbers based LAAW and RAFSI model
Deveci , Muhammet; Pamucar, Dragan; Oğuz, Elif (2022-06-01)
This study presents a quantitative methodology for FloatingPhotovoltaic(FPV) power plant site selection in Turkey usingGeographical Information Systems(GIS) and fuzzy sets, which is one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods. In this study, we propose a new hybrid framework which combines fuzzy rough number (FRN) based decision making model including LAAW (Logarithmic Additive Assessment of the Weight coefficients) and RAFSI (Ranking of Alternatives through Functional mapping of criterionsubin...
Event studies in Turkey
BAŞDAŞ, Ulkem; Oran, Adil (2014-09-01)
The primary goal of this paper is to review the event studies conducted for Turkey to in order to identify the common components in their designs. This paper contributes to the existing literature by reviewing all event studies for Turkey for the first time, but more importantly; this review leads to the upcoming event studies on Turkey by highlighting main components of a proper design. Based on the review of 75 studies, it is observed that event studies generally choose BIST-100 (formerly, ISE-100) market...
Turkish SMEs’ use of financial statements for decision making
Aşcıgil, Semra Feriha (2017-03-01)
With a sample of 91 small Turkish firms, this study examines the factors that affect the use of financial statements, and the important information they contain, to make decisions. A principal components analysis identifies three key variables that determine the use of financial statements: experience, confidence, and knowledge. Logit analysis reveals that these three variables are significantly associated with whether Turkish business owners use financial statements to make decisions. These results can hel...
Assessment of Factors Negatively Affecting the Communication Process in Turkish State Universities
Gizir, Sıddıka; Şimşek, Hasan; Department of Educational Sciences (2005)
The purpose of this study is twofold: to assess the relationships among factors negatively affecting communication process in Turkish state universities and to test a hypothetical model drawn from a qualitative case study done by Gizir (1999). The sample of the study consisted of 480 faculty members employed in seven public universities representing seven regions of Turkey. As an instrument, أInventory of Communication Analysis in Academic Contextؤ, which was developed by the researcher by using the qualita...
