Continuous Methanol Production from Methane Using N2O as Oxidant
İpek Torun, Bahar (null; 2018-09-12)
Increased production of shale gas motivated using methane as a chemical feedstock. For this reason, an economical process that converts methane into an easily transported and valuable chemical is needed. Direct and selective, on-site, production of methanol is desirable but challenging due to the inherent stability of methane. Selective methanol formation is proven to be possible on copper exchanged zeolites (Cu-ZSM-5 [1] and Cu-mordenite [2,3]) following a 3-step cyclic process: (i) oxidation of the Cu-zeo...
Sustained release of a model macromolecule from preparations with erodible core
Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat; Kamel , Ibrahim (Elsevier BV, 1988-9)
A series of sustained release tablets were prepared which consisted of a water-soluble core and a highly hydrophobie coat. Release of a macromolecule. Spectrum Orange, from this preparation was studied. It was found that release was controlled by the coat composition and coating solution viscosity. SEM and optical microscopy of the tablets indicated that the coats contained pores on the surface which penetrated in towards the centre of the core. It was deduced that the almost zero order release of macromole...

Enhanced vaterite and aragonite crystallization at controlled ethylene glycol concentrations
Oral, Çağatay Mert; Kapusuz, Derya; Ercan, Batur (Sakarya Üniversitesi, 2019-04-01)
Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) has three distinct anhydrous polymorphs, namely vaterite, aragonite and calcite. Although there is a high demand for aragonite and vaterite polymorphs for biomedical use, their unstable nature makes it challenging to synthesize them compared to calcite, which is the most stable form of CaCO3. Despite the remarkable effort on stabilizing vaterite and aragonite polymorphs in aqueous solutions, phase-pure vaterite and aragonite polymorphs have not been synthesized yet, without referri...
Rapid determination of immunosuppressive drug concentrations in whole blood by coated blade spray-tandem mass spectrometry (CBS-MS/MS)
Gomez-Rios, German Augusto; Tascon, Marcos; Reyes-Garces, Nathaly; Boyacı, Ezel; Poole, Justen James; Pawliszyn, Janusz (2018-01-25)
Coated Blade Spray (CBS) is a technology that efficiently integrates sample preparation and direct coupling to mass spectrometry (MS) on a single device. In this article, we present CBS-tandem mass spectrometry (CBS-MS/MS) as a novel tool for the rapid and simultaneous determination of four commonly used immunosuppressive drugs (ISDs) in whole blood: tacrolimus (TAC) and cyclosporine-A (CycA), which are calcineurin inhibitors; and sirolimus (SIR) and everolimus (EVR), which are both mTOR (mechanistic target...
