In this study, we propose a new SRR unit cell design for multi-band metamaterial applications. The suggested unit cell structure consists of N number of concentric split rings to obtain magnetic resonances at N distinct frequencies. The value of each distinct resonance frequency can be adjusted by changing design parameters such as metal widths and gap distances for each ring as well as ring-to-ring separations. The suggested multi-band structure is simulated using CST Microwave Studio. Effective medium parameters of the resulting multi-ring SRR type metamaterials are estimated by a retrieval algorithm.

A Novel Left-Handed Metamaterial Based on Circular Resonator and Wire Strip for Waveguide Applications
Gunduz, Ozan T.; Sabah, Cumali (2014-07-10)
A new design of left-handed (LH) metamaterial (MTM) for waveguide applications is presented. The proposed structure is based on two identical circular ring resonators (CRRs) connected with a wire strip (WS). Simulation results show that the planar MTM has a LH resonance at around 10 GHz. Surface current and magnetic field distributions at the resonance are also examined to shown the LH behavior of the structure. In addition, a parametric study based on the gap size of the structure is also given in order to...
A Novel Dual-band Metamaterial Structure
Ekmekci, E.; Turban-Sayan, G. (2009-08-21)
In this study, we propose a novel metamaterial structure having magnetic resonances at two different frequencies and hence providing negative effective permeability values over two separate bandwidths. The introduced metamaterial unit cell topology in this paper is made of a single loop of conducting strip printed over a dielectric substrate with a special winding geometry. Transmission and reflection spectra of this unit cell are simulated using the Ansoft's HFSS software to observe its resonance frequenci...
A Turbine-Based MEMS Sensor for Spirometry With Wearable Devices
Beyaz, Mustafa; Habibiabad, S.; Yildiz, H.; Goreke, U.; Azgın, Kıvanç (2019-10-01)
This paper presents a turbine-based microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensor for spirometry application. The compact sensor dimensions allow integration into smart wearable devices for mobile spirometry without a dedicated hand-held component. The sensor is composed of a turbine with embedded magnets, which is surrounded by two stators with micro coils in a PMMA package. Tangential gas flow actuates the turbine on ball bearings and results in voltage generation due to electromagnetic induction. The sens...
A New Decision Fusion Technique for Image Classification
Ozay, Mete; Vural, Fatos Tunay Yarman (2009-11-10)
In this study, we introduce a new image classification technique using decision fusion. The proposed technique, called Meta-Fuzzified Yield Value.(Meta-FYV), is based on two-layer Stacked Generalization (SG) architecture [1]. At the base-layer, the system, receives a set of feature vectors of various dimensions and dynamical ranges and outputs hypotheses through fuzzy transformations. Then, the hypotheses created by the base layer transformations are concatenated for building a regression equation at meta-l...
A Reconfigurable Nested Ring-Split Ring Transmitarray Unit Cell by Microfluidic Technology
Erdil, Emre; Topalli, Kagan; Esmaeilzad, Nasim Seyedpour; Zorlu, Ozge; Külah, Haluk; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (2014-04-11)
This paper presents a reconfigurable circularly polarized transmitarray unit cell by microfluidic technology. The unit cell comprises double layer nested ring-split rings formed as microfluidic channels in the Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) material using soft lithography techniques. In this structure, only the inner ring has a split region and this region is realized by leaving a gap in the channel filled by an injected liquid metal whereas the outer channel is filled by the liquid metal. Transmission phase o...
