THE ANALYSIS OF UPDATED SECONDARY SCHOOL CHEMISTRY CURRICULUM OF TURKEY CONSIDERING THE DIMENSIONS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

2018-01-01
Sustainability is a broad discipline that provides opportunities to teach several aspects of our planet, business, technology, various cultures and communities to learners of all ages. Students gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of hard and soft sciences while contributing to the process of attaining a sustainable future through collective efforts of humanity. The Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) followed by Global Action Programme (GAP), mainly led by United Nations and member states, seeks to accelerate progress toward sustainable development (SD) by extending good examples of ESD. Reorienting existing educational programmes to address sustainability sets ground for pioneer examples of instruction to get a foothold for further implementation. During DESD (2004-2014) many countries and stakeholders took part in reorienting education at all levels of their education system and carried out curriculum development activities.

An analysis of course characteristics, learner characteristics, and certification rates in MITx MOOCs
Cagiltay, Nergiz Ercil; Çağıltay, Kürşat; Çelik, Berkan (Athabasca University Press, 2020-01-01)
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), capable of providing free (or low cost) courses for millions of learners anytime and anywhere, have gained the attention of researchers, educational institutions, and learners worldwide. Even though they provide several benefits, there are still some criticisms of MOOCs. For instance, MOOCs' high dropout rates or predominantly elite participation are considered to be important problems. In order to develop solutions for these problems, a deeper understanding of MOOCs is ...
