All rights reserved. This paper introduces a new hybrid adaptive model predictive control approach to control of uncertain dynamical systems where the matched uncertainty can be linearly parameterized by known basis functions. Introduced control framework respects the actuator position limit and actuator rate limit. Initially, an integration method in adaptive control is employed to identify the matched uncertainty in conjunction with Pseudo-Control Hedging (PCH). Thus, adaptation to matched uncertainty is not inhibited by the actuator saturation. Once the parameter convergence is achieved, control algorithm switches to online-learned model based Model Predictive Controller (MPC). Overall, the asymptotic stability of the system signals are ensured, and the improvements are illustrated on a simulation of wing-rock dynamics.

Extended kalman filter based robust altitude controller for sea skimming missiles
Dülgar, Özgün; Gezer, Rüştü Berk; Kutay, Ali Türker (2016-01-01)
© 2016, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.A sea skimming missile is needed to be flown above mean sea level as low as it can, in order to decrease detectability; so that, survivability of the missile against counter attacks of the target ships is maximized. On the other hand, flying at very low height is a tough task under disturbances due to sea waves and measurement errors of various sensors used in height control loop. Thus, a robust altitude control system...
Adaptive roll control of guided munitions with state independent uncertainty parameterization
Ovec, Naz T.; Kutay, Ali Türker (2017-01-01)
© 2017, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.Guided munitions are air-to-air or air-to-surface weapons which have enhanced target hit capabilities with laser seekers or similar guidance utilities. The additional components enhance the target hit capability of the munition significantly but they bring along some aerodynamic challenges as well. The cross-coupled interactions are triggered with the sharp maneuvers and the stabilization of the roll channel is aggrava...
High strain rate material characterization of Al 7075-T651 by modified Taylor impact test and velocity interferometry
Kesemen, Latif; Kayran, Altan (2017-01-01)
© 2017, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.Metallic materials in aerospace structures are exposed to impact loading depending on their usage area. High strain rate material characterization of metallic materials is very crucial to properly prepare finite element models to be used in impact loading situations. Aluminum alloys are widely used in aerospace structures in variety of areas. Johnson-Cook material model is a suitable material model to represent the beh...
Analysis of effects of different diffusion models in hypersonic flow regimes
Gur, H. Berk; Eyi, Sinan (2017-01-01)
© 2017, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.Hypersonic flows become popular due to its use in space explorations and military applications. It occurs normally, when a space craft re-enter to the atmosphere. Space crafts are exposed to high temperatures and high pressures because of Earth’s atmosphere and gravity. In addition in high temperatures, gases tend to react with each other. These reactions also have effects on space craft’s surface. In order to calculat...
Modification of the extended messinger model for mixed phase icing and industrial applications with TAICE
Ayan, Erdem; Özgen, Serkan (2017-01-01)
© 2017, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.Computational studies have been performed in order to predict mixed phase ice accretion on aircraft components. In-house developed TAICE tool has been used in this study. Previously, TAICE was already validated for icing cases due to water droplets only. In addition, in the framework of High Altitude Ice Crystals (HAIC) FP7 European project, mixed phase ice accretion prediction capability has been added to TAICE. Up to...
