8-brom-6,7-dihydrobenzocycloheptene 16 and 9-bromo-6,7-benzocycloheptadiene 17 have been synthesized via a new and simple method, and their allene reactions were studied. Treatment of 16 with a base in the presence of DPIBF (diphenylisobenzofuran) gave the strained bicyclic allene 9, which underwent a cycloaddition reaction to yield 25 and 26. On the other hand, the reaction of the vinyl bromide 17 with a base, either in the presence or absence of DPIBF, resulted in the formation of 7H-benzocycloheptadiene 21, rather than the alkyne 22.

Synthesis and Stimuli-Responsive Properties of Metallo-Supramolecular Phosphazene Polymers Based on Terpyridine Metal Complexes
Sezer, Selda; KÖYTEPE, SÜLEYMAN; GÜLTEK, AHMET; SEÇKİN, TURGAY (2021-08-01)
In this study, terpyridine functionalized phosphazene based metallo-supramolecular polymers were synthesized by three step reaction method. In the first step, 4 '-(4-aminophenyl)-2,2 ':6 ',2 ''-terpyridine was synthesized with p-nitro benzaldehyde and 2-acetylpyridine. Then, the monomer containing six terpyridine (TPY) units attached to the phosphazene was prepared from 4 '-(4-aminophenyl)-2,2 ':6 ',2 ''-terpyridine and hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene by a condensation reaction. Finally, metallo-supramolecula...
Synthesis and characterization of V, Mo and Nb incorporated micro-mesoporous MCM-41 materials
Solmaz, Arzu; BALCI, FATMA SUNA; Doğu, Timur (2011-01-01)
Highly microporous metal-MCM-41 ordered mesoporous structure catalysts having different metal/Si (V, Mo, Nb) atomic ratios and combinations of metal sources were hydrothermally synthesized. The structural properties estimated using different techniques were found to be in agreement with each other. Metals were successfully incorporated into MCM-41 without deteriorating the ordered hexagonal structure. The metal ions in the synthesis solutions probably settled on the hydrophilic end of the template hence the...
Effect of ZnO morphology on photocatalytic activity determined by no oxidation
Kahraman, Orhun; Üner, Deniz; Department of Chemical Engineering (2019)
In this thesis, the ISO 22197-1 standard test method -for assessing photocatalytic activity by NO oxidation- was used to determine the activity of a series of ZnO samples prepared by a wet chemical synthesis method. The crystallinity of the samples was monitored by XRD and the morphology of the samples was investigated by SEM analysis. NO oxidation measurements revealed that the samples having long range ordered hexagonal morphology shown better photocatalytic activity than those with flake-like morphology....
Synthesis of beta-chloro-alpha-aminophosphonate derivatives via the regioselective ring opening of unactivated aziridine-2-phosphonates
Polat-Cakir, Sidika; BEKSULTANOVA, Nurzhan; Doğan, Özdemir (Informa UK Limited, 2018-12-02)
A series of unactivated racemic and chiral aziridine-2-phosphonates were synthesized by modified Gabriel-Cromwell reaction. Ring opening reaction of the synthesized phosphonates by gaseous HCl provided access to a wide range of biologically interesting novel beta-chloro-alpha-aminophosphonates. All reactions toward each of the above-mentioned products can be conducted regioselectively in high yields.
Synthesis and characterization of Ba/MCM-41
Kaya, Emine; Oktar, Nuray; Karakaş, Gürkan; Murtezaoglu, Kirali (2010-01-01)
Mesoporous Ba/MCM-41 type materials (Ba/MCM-41) with high Ba/Si molar ratios between 0.025 and 0.1 were synthesized by direct hydrothermal synthesis. The samples were characterized by XRD, nitrogen adsorption, TGA-DTA, FTIR, SEM-EDS, and TEM techniques. BET surface areas of samples with various Ba loadings were found between 722 and 931 m(2)/g with 28 A average pore size, which is consistent with the pore size of 30 A for pure MCM-41 samples synthesized by the same procedure. The crystal structures of synth...
