Spatial data has become a critical issue in recent years. In the past years, nearly more than three quarters of databases, were related directly or indirectly to locations referring to physical features, which constitute the relevant aspects. Spatial data is necessary to identify or calculate the relationships between spatial objects when using spatial operators in programs or portals. Originally, calculations were conducted using Geographic Information System (GIS) programs on local computers. Subsequently, through the Internet, they formed a geospatial web, which is integrated into a discoverable collection of geographically related web standards and key features, and constitutes a global network of geospatial data that employs the World Wide Web to process textual data. In addition, the geospatial web is used to gather spatial data producers, resources, and users. Standards also constitute a critical dimension in further globalizing the idea of the geospatial web. The sensor web is an example of the real time service that the geospatial web can provide. Sensors around the world collect numerous types of data. The sensor web is a type of sensor network that is used for visualizing, calculating, and analyzing collected sensor data. Today, people use smart devices and systems more frequently because of the evolution of technology and have more than one mobile device.

Use of terrain information to improve the performance of a target tracker
Canay, Mustafa; Demirekler, Mübeccel; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2009)
Radar target tracking problem has been a popular topic for several decades. Recent works have shown that the performance of tracking algorithms increases as more prior information is used by the system; such as maximum velocity and maximum acceleration of the target, altitude of the target, or the elevation structure of the terrain. In this thesis we will focus on increasing the performance of tracking algorithms making use of benefit from the elevation model of the environment where the target tracker is s...
Tradeoff analysis and optimization of security and spatial resolution for sensor networks
Tomur, Emrah; Erten, Y. M. (2007-03-16)
In this study, we investigate the correlation between security and spatial resolution -a measure of service quality- in cluster-based wireless sensor networks (WSN). We analyze the tradeoff between these two concepts resulting from the limited channel capacity and propose a method to determine the best tradeoff between security and spatial resolution for cases where network capacity is not sufficient to support required levels. We also present some numerical results obtained by application of the proposed m...
Impact of Rescaling Approaches in Simple Fusion of Soil Moisture Products
Afshar, Mahdı Hesamı ; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tuğrul (American Geophysical Union (AGU), 2019-09-10)
In this study, the impact of various rescaling approaches in the framework of data fusion is explored. Four different soil moisture products (Advanced Scatterometer; Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for EOS, AMSR-E; Antecedent Precipitation Index; and Global Land Data Assimilation System-NOAH) are fused. The systematic differences between products are removed before the fusion utilizing various rescaling approaches focusing on different methods (regression, variance/cumulative distribution function (C...
A Context aware notification framework based on distributed focused crawling
Akyol, Mehmet Ali; Eren, Pekin Erhan; Department of Information Systems (2017)
The amount of data generated from sources on the Web has been increasing on a daily basis. Hence, it is time-consuming to follow all these sources to reach the latest information. The way people access information on the Web is usually pull-based, meaning that they query the Web over time to find the most recent blog posts, websites, news, and even weather reports. Accessing the right information at the right time is crucial for both people and businesses to be more productive and efficient. Moreover, the i...
Using tag similarity in SVD-based recommendation systems
Osmanli, Osman Nuri; Toroslu, İsmail Hakkı (2011-12-01)
Data analysis has become a very important area for both companies and researchers as a consequence of the technological developments in recent years. Companies are trying to increase their profit by analyzing the existing data about their customers and making decisions for the future according to the results of these analyses. Parallel to the need of companies, researchers are investigating different methodologies to analyze data more accurately with high performance. In this paper, we adopted free-formatte...
