Türkiye’de kadın yoksulluğu ile ilgili çalışmalar gelire ve hanehalkı reisliğine odaklanmakta ve evli kadınların hane içine gizlenen yoksulluğunu ihmal etmektedir. Literatürdeki bu boşluğu doldurmak üzere Mardin ve Muğla’da 408 evli çift ile görüşülmüş ve kadınların hane içinde yaşamış oldukları yoksulluk ve yoksunluk hane temelli değil, birey temelli olarak ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca erkek ve kadınlar için iki farklı pazarlık gücü endeksi oluşturulmuştur. Bulgular kadınların, özellikle Mardin’de çok daha fazla olmak üzere, fiziksel şiddete maruz kaldığını, işgücüne katılım, miras hakkı, gayrimenkul sahipliği ve eğitim gibi kaynaklara erişim ve hane içi kararlara katılım açısından da yoksunluklar yaşadığını göstermektedir.
