Beklenen Fayda Kuramı, tüm yatırımcıların rasyonel davrandığını varsaymakta ve yatırımcı psikolojisini göz ardı etmektedir. Buna karşılık, Davranışsal Finans Kuramı, yatırım kararları ve varlık fiyatları üzerindeki psikolojik etkenlerin etkisini inceleyen bir yaklaşım sunmaktadır. Çalışmada, bu kuramın temelini oluşturan Kahneman ve Tversky Beklenti Kuramı çerçevesinde, ĐMKB’deki bireysel yatırımcı davranışlarını etkileyen güdüler saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, -önceden belirlenmiş altı değişkene göre farklılaşmakla birlikte- hizmet sektöründe çalışan bireysel yatırımcıların pay senedi yatırım kararında, yatkınlık etkisi, temsililik etkisi, çerçeveleme etkisi, yansıma etkisi ile aşırı güven ve hevristiklerin etkili olduğu, kesinlik etkisinin ise söz konusu olmadığı saptanmıştır.
