GENE-FUNCTION ANALYSIS OF CANDIDATE EFFECTOR PROTEINS OF WHEAT STRIPE RUST PATHOGEN
Radiation grafting of various water-soluble monomers on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene powder: Part I. Grafting conditions and grafting yield
Aydinli, B; Tincer, T (Elsevier BV, 2001-02-01)
Monomers of some water-soluble polymers; acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylamide, N, N-dimethyl acrylamide and 1-vinyl-2 pyrrolidone, were grafted on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) powders by a direct grafting method in an aqueous medium in air. Inhibition of homopolymerisation was achieved by adding various concentrations of Fe2+ or Cu2+ ions. It was found that the degree of grafting increases linearly with dose till a gelation state is reached, and varies between 40 and 12% depending...
Gene expression profiling of Thermoplasma volcanium under extreme stress conditions
Kocabıyık, Semra (2014-06-26)
Identifying the stress response mechanisms in Archaea mighthave potential applications considering the industrial importanceof their enzymes. In this study, as an extension of our researchon anti-stress mechanisms, we have carried out genome widetranscriptome analysis ofThermoplasma volcanium(grows opti-mally at pH 2.7 and 60◦C) under extreme stress (i.e., heat- shockat 68◦C, hydrogen peroxide, 0.03 mM H2O2and pH stress atpH 5.0) using AgilentCustom Gene Expression Microarray. The data w...
Quantification of CaCO3-CaSO3 center dot 0.5H(2)O-CaSO4 center dot 2H(2)O mixtures by FTIR analysis and its ANN model
Boke, H; Akkurt, S; Ozdemir, S; Gokturk, EH; Saltık, Emine Nevin (2004-02-01)
A new quantitative analysis method for mixtures of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), calcium sulphite hemihydrate (CaSO3.1/2H(2)O) and gypsum (CaSO4.2H(2)O) by FTIR spectroscopy is developed. The method involves the FTIR analysis of powder mixtures of several compositions on KBr disc specimens. Intensities of the resulting absorbance peaks for CaCO3, CaSO3.1/2H(2)O and CaSO4.2H(2)O at 1453, 980, 1146 cm(-1) were used as input data for an artificial neural network (ANN) model, the output being the weight percent co...
Cloning, transformation and wheat infiltration assay of a puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici effector candidate
Özketen, Ahmet Çağlar; Akkaya, Mahinur S.; Department of Biotechnology (2013)
The stripe rust pathogen, Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici is the causative agent of the yellow (stripe) rust which is globally one of the most devastating and economically significant diseases in wheat. Although using fungicide can present a practical solution against the disease, an efficient, better and environmentally safer approach is needed to grow disease free wheat. To achieve this, better comprehension of the plant-pathogen interaction at the molecular and cellular level is required. The pathoge...
