Multichromic benzimidazole-containing polymers: Comparison of donor and acceptor unit effects
Nurioglu, Ayda Goycek; Akpinar, Hava; Sendur, Merve; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2012-09-01)
This study reports a comparative study on electrochromic properties of two donoracceptordonor (DAD)-type polymers namely poly(2-heptyl-4,7-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-benzo [d]imidazole) (BImTh) and poly(4,7-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b] [1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-2-heptyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole) (BImEd). DAD-type monomers were polymerized electrochemically on indium tin oxide-coated glass slides to determine the optical properties of the polymers. Electrochemical rho-doping experiments were performed to determine the band ga...
Exponential stability of periodic solutions of recurrent neural networks with functional dependence on piecewise constant argument
Akhmet, Marat; Cengiz, Nur (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, 2018-01-01)
In this study, we develop a model of recurrent neural networks with functional dependence on piecewise constant argument of generalized type. Using the theoretical results obtained for functional differential equations with piecewise constant argument, we investigate conditions for existence and uniqueness of solutions, bounded solutions, and exponential stability of periodic solutions. We provide conditions based on the parameters of the model.
SPT-based probabilistic and deterministic assessment of seismic soil liquefaction triggering hazard
Çetin, Kemal Önder; Kayen, Robert E.; Moss, Robb E. S.; Bilge, Habib Tolga; Ilgaç, Makbule (Elsevier BV, 2018-12-01)
This study serves as an update to the Cetin et al. (2000, 2004) [1,2] databases and presents new liquefaction triggering curves. Compared with these studies from over a decade ago, the resulting new Standard Penetration Test (SPT)-based triggering curves have shifted to slightly higher CSR-levels for a given N-1,N-60,N-cs for values of N-1,N-60,N-cs greater than 15 blows/ft, but the correlation curves remain essentially unchanged at N-1,N-60,N-cs values less than 15 blows/ft. This paper addresses the improv...
Probabilistic Slope Stability Analyses Using Limit Equilibrium and Finite Element Methods
Akbas, Burak; Huvaj Sarıhan, Nejan (2015-10-16)
This paper compares the results of different probabilistic approaches and emphasizes the necessity of probabilistic analyses in slope stability studies. To do that, Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) and Finite Element Method (FEM) are utilized and their outputs are compared in terms of probability of failure (PF), reliability index (RI), factor of safety (FS) and the failure surface. Lastly, concept of Random Finite Element Method (RFEM) is studied and effects of spatial correlation distance are investigated.
Simulation of Through Hardening of SAE 52100 Steel Bearings Part II Validation at Industrial Scale
Evcil, Elif; Müştak, Ozan; Şimşir, Caner (null; 2015-09-23)
In this study, the material dataset presented in part I of this article is validated at industrial scale in batch through‐hardening of bearing races. The material dataset acquired is implemented in a commercial heat treatment simulation software. Heat transfer coefficients for the oil and salt bath are determined by using a commercial standard quench probe. Zone temperatures and transfer times of the roller‐belt furnace are measured directly from the system.Through‐hardening of inner ring (IR) of 6813 beari...
