The concept of molecular similarity and the angle of total Pi-electron energy

1996-01-01
Türker, Burhan Lemi
The concept of molecular similarity is developed and a novel similarity index based on the cosine of the angle of total II-electron energy is proposed to interrelate structural variations to operant properties of molecules isoconjugate with alternant hydrocarbons.

The theorems of structural variation for rectangular finite elements for plate flexure
Saka, MP (Elsevier BV, 2005-11-01)
The theorems of structural variation predict the forces and displacements throughout a structure without the need of fresh analysis when the physical properties of one or more members are altered or even its topology is changed due to removal of one or more of its elements. It has been shown that a single linear elastic analysis of a parent structure under the applied loads and a set of unit-loading cases is sufficient to determine the elastic, non-linear elastic and even elasticplastic response of number o...
A novel approach to chemical resemblance of alternant hydrocarbons
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2002-02-14)
Within the constraints of the Huckel molecular orbital theory, a topological approach has been developed for the resemblance of alternant hydrocarbons. Four topological variables are considered which categorize alternant hydrocarbons having some resemblance of certain degree between them. Depending on variations of these topological variables, various groups of the compounds, including the identity case, various isomers and nonresembling systems have been investigated.
Theoretical investigation of hydroxytyrosol and its radicals
Erkoc, F; Keskin, N; Erkoç, Şakir (Elsevier BV, 2003-05-05)
The structural and electronic properties of hydroxytyrosol, its three radical isomers, and its three analogues hydroxytyrosol-dihydroxyl isomers have been investigated theoretically by performing semi-empirical self-consistent field molecular orbital theory calculations. The geometry of the systems have been optimized and the electronic properties have been calculated at the level of AMI method.
The electronic band structure of III (in, al, ga)-v (n, as, sb) compounds and ternary alloys
Mohammad, Rezek Mahmoud Salim; Katırcıoğlu, Şenay; Department of Physics (2005)
In this work, the electronic band structure of III (In, Al, Ga) - V (N, As, Sb) compounds and their ternary alloys have been investigated by density functional theory (DFT) within generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and empirical tight binding (ETB) calculations, respectively. The present DFT-GGA calculations have shown direct band gap structures in zinc-blende phase for InN, InAs, InSb, GaN, and GaAs. However, indirect band gap structures have been obtained for cubic AlN, AlSb and AlAs com- pounds; he...
Investigation of the structural properties of low dimensional nanostructures : molecular dynamics simulations
Özdamar, Burak; Erkoç, Şakir; Department of Physics (2013)
This study aims to investigate the structural and thermodynamic properties of nanostructures which are generated from different atoms and geometries. The nanostructures in question are boron nitride nanoparticles, silicon nanowires along with sawtooth-like graphene nanoribbons. The goal is to calculate the specific heat values of boron nitride nanoparticles while the mechanical properties of the other nanostructures are investigated under uniaxial strain. The structural behaviors of these generated nanopart...
