Operational Optimization of an Agricultural Microgrid
Brown, Paul D.; Göl, Murat (2022-01-01)
A demonstration agricultural microgrid containing solar photovoltaic (PV), battery storage system (BSS) and multiple water pumps and reservoirs is presented. A mathematical model of the cost of operating the demonstration microgrid is developed. The mathematical model includes hybrid inverter source switching and BSS charging modes in addition to power balance and inter-period energy and water-level coupling. Electricity pricing and irrigation water use efficiency are allowed to vary by time of day. The mat...
Performance Analysis of Reduced Common-Mode Voltage PWM Methods and Comparison With Standard PWM Methods for Three-Phase Voltage-Source Inverters
Hava, Ahmet Masum (2009-01-01)
This paper surveys the reduced common-mode voltage pulsewidth modulation (RCMV-PWM) methods for three-phase voltage-source inverters, investigates their performance characteristics, and provides a comparison with the standard PWM methods. PWM methods are reviewed, and their pulse patterns and common-mode voltage (CMV) patterns are illustrated. The inverter input and output current ripple characteristics and output voltage linearity characteristics of each PWM method are thoroughly investigated by analytical...

Performance Evaluation of the Numerical Flux Jacobians in Flow Solution and Aerodynamic Design Optimization
Ezertas, Alper; Eyi, Sinan (2010-07-16)
A direct sparse matrix solver is utilized for the flow solution and the analytical sensitivity analysis. The effects of the accuracy of the numerical Jacobians on the accuracy of sensitivity analysis and on the performance of the Newton's method flow solver are analyzed in detail. The gradient based aerodynamic design optimization is employed to demonstrate those effects.
Performance analysis and comparison of reduced common mode voltage PWM and standard PWM techniques for three-phase voltage source inverters
Un, E; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2006-03-23)
This paper investigates the performance characteristics of the reduced common mode voltage (RCMV) PWM methods for three phase voltage source inverters and provides a comparison with the standard PWM methods. PWM methods are reviewed and their pulse patterns and common mode voltage patterns illustrated. The AC output current ripple, DC link input current ripple, and output voltage linearity characteristics of each modulation method are thoroughly investigated by analytical methods and simulations. The analys...
