An analysis on the daytime woman talk shows in Turkey
Gün, Çağan; Kaya, Ahmet Raşit; Department of Media and Cultural Studies (2006)
As from 2000, the “daytime woman talk shows” with the contents of family tragedies, personal disasters and discussions increasingly draw audience’s attention, particularly women’s, became a popular TV genre with almost every private TV channel having one of its own in the year 2005 in Turkey. Defining themselves as “reality shows” presenting only “reality” and “spontaneity”, the basic claim of these programs is that the ordinary people are hosted to the programs, the problems in their everyday lives are dea...
Analyses of atmospheric and marine observations along the Turkish coast
Tutsak, Ersin; Özsoy, Emin; Department of Physical Oceanography (2012)
Time series and spectral analyses are applied to meteorological data (wind velocity, air temperature, barometric pressure) and sea level measurements from a total of 13 monitoring stations along the Turkish Coast. Analyses of four-year time series identify main time scales of transport and motion while establishing seasonal characteristics, i.e. distinguishing, for instance, between winter storms and summer sea-breeze system. Marine flow data acquired by acoustic doppler current pro filers (ADCP) is also a...
Cell formation : a real life application
Uyanık, Başar; Sepil, Canan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2005)
In this study, the plant layout problem of a worldwide Printed Circuit Board (PCB) producer company is analyzed. Machines are grouped into cells using grouping methodologies of Tabular Algorithm, K-means clustering algorithm, and Hierarchical grouping with Levenshtein distances. Production plant layouts, which are formed by using different techniques, are evaluated using technical and economical indicators.
Differential expressions and functions of phosphodiesterase enzymes in different regions of the rat heart
DERİCİ, MEHMET KÜRŞAT; SADİ, GÖKHAN; Cenik, Basar; Güray, Nülüfer Tülün; DEMİREL YILMAZ, EMİNE (Elsevier BV, 2019-02-05)
Phosphodiesterase enzymes (PDEs) are responsible for the adjustment of cyclic nucleotide levels. Alterations in PDE expressions in different tissues cause conflicts between functional and clinical effects of PDE inhibitors. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the gene and protein expressions and the functional role of PDEs in atrium and ventricle of rat heart The expressions of PDEs were examined in cardiac intact tissues and enzymatically isolated cells. The effects of PDE1-5 inhibitors (vi...
