In this study, the mode III axisymmetric crack problem in a non-homogeneous interfacial region between two homogeneous half-spaces is considered. The shear modulus of the interfacial layer is assumed to be mu(2)(z) = mu(0)e(mz). It is also assumed that this shear modulus varies continuously between that of the two half-spaces. By using the Hankel transform technique the problem is reduced to a singular integral equation. The problem is solved for various material combinations, crack geometries and for three different sets of crack surface tractions, and the corresponding stress intensity factors are tabulated.

The axisymmetric crack problem in a non-homogeneous interfacial region between homogeneous half-spaces
Fildis, H; Yahsi, OS (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1996-01-01)
In this paper, the axisymmetric crack problem in a non-homogeneous interfacial region between two homogeneous half-spaces is considered. It is assumed that the shear modulus varies continuously between that of the two half-spaces; and the shear modulus for the interface region is approximated by mu = mu(o) e(mz). By using Hankel transform technique the problem is reduced to a pair of singular integral equations. The solutions of the problem are obtained for different material combinations and loading condit...
THE MODE-III CRACK PROBLEM IN BONDED MATERIALS WITH A NONHOMOGENEOUS INTERFACIAL ZONE
ERDOGAN, F; KAYA, AC; JOSEPH, PF (ASME International, 1991-06-01)
In this paper the mode III crack problem for two bonded homogeneous half planes is considered. The interfacial zone is modeled by a nonhomogeneous strip in such a way that the shear modulus is a continuous function throughout the composite medium and has discontinuous derivatives along the boundaries of the interfacial zone. The problem is formulated for cracks perpendicular to the nominal interface and is solved for various crack locations in and around the interfacial region. The asymptotic stress fiel...
Evaluation of functional changes in akr overexpressing colorectal cell line sw480
Ermiş, Çağdaş; Banerjee, Sreeparna; Erel Göktepe, İrem; Department of Biochemistry (2021-2-02)
The Aldo-Keto Reductases (AKR) are nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(P)H) dependent oxidoreductases that function in phase 1 metabolismbyreducingaldehydes and ketones into primary and secondary alcohols. Inthis protein superfamily, the expression of AKR1B1 and AKR1B10 enzymes have been linked by us and others to colorectal cancer (CRC). Over-activation of these enzymes in the presence of excess glucose can result in the activation of the polyol pathway, which causes oxidative stress and migh...
The enantioselective synthesis of 2-indolyl-1-nitro derivatives and BODIPY dyes in the presence of chiral bifunctional squaramide organocatalysts
Dündar, Esra; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2022-8)
In our research group, chiral bifunctional squaramides with different basic units have been synthesized and evaluated in various asymmetric reactions. To test the catalytic activity of organocatalysts, Friedel-Crafts alkylation of indoles with nitroolefins was selected as a model reaction in the first part of the study. 19 different 2-indolyl-1-nitro derivatives were synthesized with up to >99% ee in the presence of sterically encumbered tert-butyl substituted squaramide/quinine. Besides, 2-adamantyl squara...
A QSAR study of the biological activities of some benzimidazoles and imidazopyridines against Bacillus subtilis
Ertepınar, Hamide; Gök, Yaşar; Geban, Ömer; Özden, Seçkin (1995-04-01)
A set of benzimidazole (I) and imidazopyridine (II) derivatives that have previously been tested for their antibacterial activities against Bacillus subtilis were analyzed using the quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) method. The activity contributions for structural and substituent effects were determined from the correlation equations, which were derived using all possible combination and stepwise regression techniques. The best equation was chosen among the other equations by considering ...
