This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Bismuth (Bi+3) and Yttrium (y(+3)) on the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Lead Magnesium Niobate-Lead Titanate (PMN-PT) compositional system. The ceramic powders were produced by thermal synthesis using a modified mixed oxide technique. The sintering parameters were optimized for developing piezoelectric ceramics with enhanced piezoelectric strain coefficients.

Synthesis and thermoluminescence properties of rare earth oxides (Y, Ce-Lu) doped lithium triborate
Yılmaz, Ayşen; Yılmaz, Ayşen (2011-06-01)
Lithium triborate (LiB(3)O(5)) was synthesized by high temperature solid-state reaction method, and then rare earth oxides were doped into LiB(3)O(5) to enhance its thermoluminescent (TL) properties. The identification and characteristics of the obtained compounds were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses, differential thermal analyses (DTA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The glow curves were obtained using a thermoluminescent (TL) reader. The results re...
Production and characterization of boron carbide powder by mechanochemical method
Büyüklüoğlu, Berkay; Sargın, Irmak; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2023-1-27)
In this study, the production of boron carbide (B4C) powders at room temperature by mechanochemical alloying is investigated. The conventional production methods of this industrially important material requires high energy consumption, whereas the low energy production methods could only produce small amounts. By optimizing the mechanochemical alloying, the know-how for the larger scale production is developed. The mechanochemical method consists of mechanical grinding and acid leaching to remove by-p...
Synthesis manganese doped zinc oxide nanoparticles
Altıntaş Yıldırım, Özlem; Durucan, Caner (null; 2016-12-01)
Synthesis of manganese-doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Mn) diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum dots is reported. The synthesis was carried out by room temperature precipitation method using zinc acetate and manganese acetate as precursors and ethylene glycol as solvent. Analytical characterization was performed by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The lattice parameters of ZnO:Mn quantum dots-as estima...
Characterization of defect states in Ga-rich gallium arsenide crystals by thermally stimulated current
YILDIRIM, TACETTİN; Hasanlı, Nızamı; TÜZEMEN, Sebahattin (2018-06-01)
The trap levels in Ga-rich GaAs crystals were studied in the temperature range of 10-300 K using thermally stimulated currents (TSC) technique. During the experiments we utilized a constant heating rate of 0.2 K/s. Experimental evidence is found for two electron trapping centers in the crystal with activation energies of 44 and 50 meV. The analysis of the experimental TSC curve suggests slow retrapping. The capture cross sections of the traps were determined as 8.8 x 10(-25) and 1.0 x 10(-25) cm(2) with con...
Production of epoxide functionalized boehmite nanoparticles and their use in epoxide nanocomposites
Coniku, Anisa; Gündüz, Güngör; Maviş, Bora; Department of Chemical Engineering (2012)
In the present study the effects of addition of organically functionalized boehmite nano-particles on the mechanical properties of epoxy polymers were analyzed. Nanosize platelets of boehmite powders were produced via a hydrothermal process from the raw material aluminum trihydroxide Al(OH)3 provided by a a chemical supplier, but which in future studies can be replaced by local resources of aluminum trihydroxide available in Seydişehir, Turkey. The ground aluminum trihydroxide particles were submitted to a ...
