STIMULATORY EFFECTS OF BENZENE ON RABBIT LIVER AND KIDNEY MICROSOMAL CYTOCHROME-P-450 DEPENDENT DRUG-METABOLIZING-ENZYMES
ARINC, E; Adalı, Orhan; ISCAN, M; Güray, Nülüfer Tülün (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1991-01-01)
Treatment of rabbits with benzene (880 mg/kg/day), s.c. for 3 consecutive days, caused 3.8- and 5.7-fold increases in aniline 4-hydroxylation rates of liver and kidney microsomes, respectively. Benzene treatment markedly enhanced hydroxylation rates of p-nitrophenol by liver and kidney by 7.2- and 4.2-fold, respectively. Both of these enzymes are associated with cytochrome P-450 LM3a. In contrast, the activity of benzphetamine N-demethylase, associated with P-450 LM2, was not altered significantly in eit...
Inactivation Mechanisms of Different Mycotoxins
Bozoğlu, Tahsin Faruk (2010-04-15)
Mycotoxins can be inhibited at three strategic phases. During synthesis: by inhibiting the growth of producer strains and inhibiting the synthesis of mycotoxins. During processing: by physical separation, chemical inactivation and biological inactivation. During consumption: by alteration of bioavailability and modification of toxicity. Unquestionably, prevention of mycotoxin production is the best method for controlling mycotoxin contamination. Should the contamination occur, the hazard associated with the...
Bioactive agent carrying PLGA nanoparticles in the treatment of skin diseases
Küçükturhan, Aysu; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat; Department of Biomedical Engineering (2012)
The aim of this study was to develop drug delivery system based on poly(lactic acid-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles (NPs) to achieve personalized treatment of selected skin disorders, like photo-aging, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Dead Sea Water (DSW) and Retinyl Palmitate (RP) were used as active agents and they were loaded in PLGA NPs prepared either as spheres or capsules by o/w or w/o/w methods. MgCl2 and bovine serum albumin (BSA) served as model active compounds. The diameter of the NPs was...
