Numerical taxonomy of the Genus Salvia (Sage) in East and Southeast Anatolia
Kahraman, Ahmet; Doğan, Musa; Arı, Nurettin (2017-12-08)
This study aims to carry out multivariate statistical analyseson 59 taxa of the genus SalviaL. (sage) naturally found in East and Southeast Anatolia in Turkey based on macromorphological, anatomical, palynological and mericarp micromorphological characteristics, to construct an infrageneric grouping in the genus and tounderstandthephylogeneticrelationships between taxa. For the multivariate correspondence analyses, OTUs (Operational Taxonomic Units) representing different populations of the Salvi...
DNA fingerprinting and genetic characterization of Anatolian Triticum spp. using AFLP markers
Yildirim, Figen; Akkaya, Mahinur (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2006-08-01)
In this study, genetic analysis of Triticum spp. was carried out using AFLP markers. Six AFLP selective combinations were scored as presence and absence of bands for all the individual samples obtained from a single seed of each accession (70 accessions); T. baeoticum (21), T. monococcum (5), T. urartu (16), T. araraticum (7), T. dicoccoides (16) and T. dicoccon (5), resulting in 506 polymorphic AFLP bands. The phylogenetic tree showed two major clusters; one was composed of T. monococcum (AA) and T. baeoti...
Phylogenetic relationships of Elymus L. and related genera (Poaceae) based on the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer sequences
Dizkirici, Ayten; KAYA, ZEKİ; Cabi, Evren; Doğan, Musa (2010-01-01)
To help in the clarification of the taxonomic status of Elymus L and related genera Agropyron Gaertn Leymus Hochst Hordelymus (Jess) Harz and Brachypodium P Beauv, the sequence diversity in the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA was studied ITS data of 64 Triticeae accessions including 40 Elymus 12 Agropyron 7 Leymus and 4 Hordelymus and 1 Brachypodium as an out group were analysed The molecular diversity statistics Indicated that the most diverse genus is Elymus among the stu...
Genetic and morphometric variation in honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) populations of Turkey
Kandemir, I; Kence, M; Kence, Aykut (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2000-05-01)
Six enzyme systems were studied to determine the genetic variability in honeybee populations in Turkey. Ten morphometric characters were also measured to determine the extent of morphometric variation. Out of six enzyme systems, four were found to be polymorphic with 16 allozymes. The average heterozygosity was calculated as 0.072 +/- 0.007. Morphometric and electrophoretic variables were equally effective in discriminating honeybee populations. European and Anatolian honeybees were separated on the first a...
Taxonomic studies on the genus salvia l. (labiatae) in central anatolia, Turkey
Bagherpour, Safı; Doğan, Musa; Department of Biology (2010)
This research study is a revision of the genus Salvia (Labiatae) in Central Anatolia. The author has carried out extensive research studies conducted in a 3 year period starting from June 2005 by collecting specimens from all the localities in Central Anatolia, Turkey. Specimens collected from Turkey by the other researchers and kept either in Turkey or abroad were also examined. The samples were studied using their root, stem and leaf morphology including essential characteristics of flowers. Using this in...
