23Na double rotation NMR (DOR) provides information on site-specific adsorption of guest molecules within the porous framework of sodium zeolite Y. Anchoring of molybdenum-hexacarbonyl to extraframework Na+ cations in particular locations within the large α-cavities is detected. Changes of the chemical environments of the Na+ cations are observed upon loading trimethylphosphine molecules. Spin-lattice relaxation measurements yield insight on dynamic aspects of the anchoring sodium cations.

The defect state of Yb-doped ZnO nanoparticles using thermoluminescence study
Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2019-09-01)
Shallow trapping centers in Yb-doped ZnO nanoparticles were determined using thermoluminescence (TL) measurements applied in the 10-300 K temperature region. Undoped and Yb-doped ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel method. TL glow curve of undoped nano-particles presented three peaks around 56, 108 and 150 K whereas one additional peak around 83 K was observed in the TL curve of Yb-doped ZnO nano-particles. The increase of Yb concentration in the nanoparticles increased the TL intensity of this ad...
Microstructural investigation of Cu2+ doped nanohydroxyapatites
Evis, Zafer (Informa UK Limited, 2010-05-01)
Pure and Cu2+ doped nanohydroxyapatites were synthesised by a precipitation method to investigate the effect of Cu2+ ions on the structure of hydroxyapatite (HA) and its thermal stability after the air sintering at 1100 degrees C. A small amount of CaO was observed in the Cu2+ doped HAs after the X-ray diffraction results. The addition of Cu2+ changed the hexagonal lattice parameters of the HA and resulted in smaller grain size after sintering at 1100 degrees C. The addition of Cu2+ ions into HA resulted in...
Preparation and characterization of zeolite framework stabilized cuprous oxide nanoparticles
Zahmakiran, Mehmet; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2009-05-15)
Zeolite framework stabilized copper(I) oxide nanoparticles (4.8 +/- 2.6 nm) were prepared for the first time by using a four step procedure: the ion exchange of Cu(2+) ions with the extra framework Na(+) ions in Zeolite-Y, the reduction of the Cu(2+) ions within the cavities of zeolite with sodium borohydride in aqueous solution, the dehydration of Zeolite-Y with the copper(0) nanoclusters, and the oxidation of intrazeolite copper(0) nanoclusters by O(2) at room temperature. Zeolite stabilized copper(I) oxi...
Hydrothermal BaTiO3 thin films from nanostructured Ti templates
Akyildiz, Hasan; Casper, Michelle D.; Ayguen, Seymen M.; Lam, Peter G.; Maria, Jon P. (Cambridge University Press (CUP), 2011-02-01)
Polycrystalline BaTiO3 thin films have been prepared by hydrothermal reaction with sputter-deposited nanostructured reactive Ti templates designed to control net diffusion direction and distance. Templates were prepared in two morphologies, i.e., planar and nanopillar. The samples produced from flat templates showed sluggish transformation kinetics and an eventual termination of reaction without fully consuming the Ti metal. Templates with pillar morphology, on the other hand, could be transformed to phase-...
Below and above bandgap excited photoluminescence in Tl4InGa3S8 layered single crystals
Goksen, K.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (IOP Publishing, 2007-11-14)
Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of Tl4InGa3S8 layered single crystals grown by the Bridgman method have been studied in the 550-710 nm wavelength and 80 300 K temperature ranges with below bandgap excitation (lambda(exc) = 532 nm), and in the 420-600 nm wavelength and 30-300 K temperature ranges with above bandgap excitation (lambda(exc) = 325 nm). The broad emission bands centered at 580 nm (2.14 eV) and 496 nm (2.49 eV) were observed at T = 80 and 30 K for below and above bandgap excitation processes, resp...
