Tetracarbonyl-η-dienechromium(O) complexes (diene 1,3-butadiene (I), trans-1,3-pentadiene (II), 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene (III), trans,trans-2,4-hexadiene (IV), 2-methyl-1,3-pentadiene (V), 2-ethyl-1,3-butadiene (VI), 2,4-pentadienoic acid methylester (VII), 2,4-hexadienoic acid methylester (VIII), 1,3-cyclohexadiene (IX) and 1,5-cyclooctadiene (X)) have been prepared photochemically and studied by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The 13C carbonyl ligand signals of I–VIII were found to be temperature dependent, indicating hindered ligand mobility of the formally octahedral complexes. The activation barriers were found to lie between 39–47 kj mol−1. IX and X differ markedly from I–VIII. The spectroscopic results can for IX be explained from rapid ligand movement even at 190 K, but X shows no ligand movement up to 345 K.

HINDERED LIGAND MOTIONS IN TRANSITION-METAL COMPLEXES .18. SYNTHESIS AND DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF TRICARBONYL(ETA-DIENE)(TRIMETHYLPHOSPHANE)CHROMIUM(0) AND TRICARBONYL(ETA-DIENE)(TRIMETHYL PHOSPHITE)CHROMIUM(0)
KOTZIAN, M; KREITER, CG; MICHAEL, G; Özkar, Saim (Wiley, 1983-01-01)
Irradiation of Cr(CO)5[P(CH3)3] or Cr(CO)5[P(OCH3)3] in presence of 1,3‐butadiene (1), trans‐1,3‐pentadiene (2), and 2‐ethyl‐1,3‐butadiene (3), trans, trans‐2,4‐hexadiene (4), 2‐methyl‐1,3‐pentadiene (5), and 2‐ethyl‐1,3‐butadiene (6) produces in good yields Cr(CO)3L(η4‐diene) complexes (LP(CH3)3 1A–6A; LP(OCH3)3 1B–6B). The configurations of these complexes were determined by IR and NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 31P). Cr(CO)3[P(OCH3)3](η4‐1,3‐pentadiene) (2B) and Cr(CO)3[P(OCH3)3](η4‐2,4‐hexadiene) (4B) for...

The di-pi-methane photorearrangement of 2,3-disubstituted benzobarrelenes and benzonorbornadiene - Substituent effects in regioselectivity
Altundas, R; Dastan, A; Unaldi, NS; Guven, K; Uzun, O; Balcı, Metin (2002-02-01)
2,3-Disubstituted benzobarrelene and benzonorbornadiene derivatives 16, 17, and 18, containing electron-withdrawing and electron-donating substituents, have been synthesized and subjected to triplet-sensitized photoisomerization. Methyl 3-methyl-2-benzobarrelenecarboxylate (16) gave two di-pi-methane rearrangement products. However, methyl 3-cyano-2-benzobarrelenecarboxyidte (17) underwent an intramolecular [2(pi) + 2(pi)] cycloaddition reaction, whilst methyl 3cyano-2-benzonorbornadienecarboxylate (18) for...
Synthesis and mesophase properties of block and random co-polymers of electroactive and liquid crystalline monomers
Yilmaz, F; Kasapoglu, F; Hepuzer, Y; Yagci, Y; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Fernandes, EG; Galli, G (Informa UK Limited, 2005-01-01)
Homo-polymers and random co-polymers of electroactive and liquid crystalline monomers, namely 3-thienylmethyl methacrylate (MTM) and 6-(4-cyanobiphenyl-4'-oxy)hexyl acrylate (LC6), were prepared by conventional free radical polymerization. Block co-polymers of MTM and LC6 were also synthesized by using the 1,1-diphenylethene (DPE) method. The obtained random and block co-polymers exhibited liquid crystal behavior depending on the content of the LC6 units. It was found that microphase separation of the polym...
Synthesis of new donor-acceptor polymers containing thiadiazoloquinoxaline and pyrazinoquinoxaline moieties: low-band gap, high optical contrast, and almost black colored materials
Unver, Elif Kose; Tarkuc, Simge; BARAN, Derya; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2011-05-25)
Two low band gap conjugated polymers, poly[4,9-bis(4-hexylthien-2-yl)-6,7-di(thien-2-yl)-[1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline] (PHTTQ) and poly[5,10-bis(4-hexylthien-2-yl)-2,3,7,8-tetra(thien-2-yl)pyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline] (PHTPQ), consisting of alternating electron-rich 3-hexylthiophene and electron-deficient 6,7-di(thien-2-yl)-[1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline (TTQ) and 2,3,7,8-tetra(thien-2-yl)-2,3-dihydropyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline (TPQ) units were synthesized electrochemically. The structures of th...
