IMITATION OF HUMAN BODY POSES BY THE FORMATION CONTROL OF A FLUIDIC SWARM
Tilki, Umut; Erkmen, İsmet; Erkmen, Aydan Müşerref (2012-07-04)
Imitation learning is one of the forms of social learning that enables the human or robot agents to learn new skills. The knowledge acquired for imitation can be basically represented as action mapping based on "organ matching" which determines the correspondence between imitator and imitatee, if the imitator and the demonstrator share the same embodiment. In this paper; we aim at imitation of two system with totally different dynamics, imitating each other, where any correspondence is missing. Towards this...
Illegitimate tasks are not created equal: Examining the effects of attributions on unreasonable and unnecessary tasks
Pindek, Shani; Demircioglu, Ezgi; Howard, David J.; Eatough, Erin M.; Spector, Paul E. (2019-07-03)
Illegitimate tasks are tasks that violate norms for what the employee should do as part of the job, and have been found to harm employees' well-being. The current research uses a mixed methods design to examine the role of attributions on the two types of illegitimate tasks: unreasonable and unnecessary tasks. A sample of 432 engineers described a specific illegitimate task that was assigned to them, the attributions they made and their response. They also completed a quantitative questionnaire. Results fro...
Ensemble monte carlo simulation of quantum well infrared photodetectors, and inp based long wavelength quantum well infrared photodetectors for thermal imaging
Cellek, Oray Orkun; Beşikci, Cengiz; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
Quantum well infrared photodetectors (QWIP) utilize quantum wells of large bandgap materials to detect infrared radiation. When compared to conventional low bandgap LWIR photodetectors, the QWIP technology offers largest format thermal imagers with much better uniformity. The theoretical part of this study includes the development of a QWIP ensemble Monte Carlo simulator. Capture paths of electrons to quantum wells are simulated in detail. For standard AlGaAs/GaAs QWIPs, at medium and high E-fields L valley...
Sol-gel derived tungsten oxide based electrochromic coatings
Işık, Dilek; Durucan, Caner; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2008)
The microstructural, electrochemical and optical properties of sol-gel derived tungsten oxide electrochromic coatings have been investigated. Coatings were formed by spinning of tungsten metal based aqueous sol on glass with native ITO layer. Three sol formulations; acetylated peroxotungstic acid (APTA), peroxotungstic acid (PTA) and titanium-doped peroxotungstic acid (Ti-PTA) were employed to obtain 200-300 nm thick multi-layered coatings. Material and electrochromic characterization of the coatings have b...
Nested and robust modeling techniques for fNIRS data with demographics and experiment related factors in n-back task
Çakar, Serenay; Gökalp Yavuz, Fulya (2022-01-01)
Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) signals are used to measure relative changes in oxyhemoglobin (HbO) and deoxyhemoglobin (HbR) concentrations. Brain response studies constitute multilevel or nested datasets formed by different parts of the brain of individuals and multidimensional datasets. The changes in brain activities under specific stimuli are investigated with the help of statistical analysis. However, these studies ignore the dependence structure between the repeated measures of the same...
