Large structure-dependent room temperature exchange bias in self-assembled BiFeO3 nanoparticles
Goswami, Sudipta; Sahoo, Aditi; Bhattacharya, Dipten; Karci, Ozgur; Mohanty, P. K. (2020-08-01)
We studied the magnetic properties of self-assembled aggregates of BiFeO3 nanoparticles (similar to 20 nm-40 nm). The aggregates formed two different structures-one with limited and another with massive crosslinking-via the "drying-mediated self-assembly" process following dispersion of the nanoparticles within different organic solvents. They exhibit large coercivity H-C (>1000 Oe) and exchange bias field H-E (similar to 350-900 Oe) in comparison to what is observed in isolated nanoparticles (H-C similar t...
Small Lefschetz fibrations and exotic 4-manifolds
Baykur, R. Inanc; Korkmaz, Mustafa (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2017-04-01)
We explicitly construct genus-2 Lefschetz fibrations whose total spaces are minimal symplectic 4-manifolds homeomorphic to complex rational surfaces CP2#pCP (CP) over bar (2) for P = 7,8,9, and to 3CP(2)#qCP (CP) over bar (2) for q = 12, . . . , 19. Complementarily, we prove that there are no minimal genus-2 Lefschetz fibrations whose total spaces are homeomorphic to any other simply-connected 4-manifold with b(+) <= 3, with one possible exception when b(+) = 3. Meanwhile, we produce positive Dehn twist fac...
DOUBLE ROTATION NA-23 NMR-STUDY OF GUEST-HOST INTERACTIONS AND NANOSCALE ASSEMBLIES IN SODIUM ZEOLITE-Y
JELINEK, R; Özkar, Saim; OZIN, GA (1992-01-01)
23Na double rotation NMR (DOR) provides information on site-specific adsorption of guest molecules within the porous framework of sodium zeolite Y. Anchoring of molybdenum-hexacarbonyl to extraframework Na+ cations in particular locations within the large α-cavities is detected. Changes of the chemical environments of the Na+ cations are observed upon loading trimethylphosphine molecules. Spin-lattice relaxation measurements yield insight on dynamic aspects of the anchoring sodium cations.
Double perovskite structure induced by Co addition to PbTiO3: insights from DFT and experimental solid-state NMR spectroscopy
Mete, Ersen; Odabaşı, Selda; Mao, Haiyan; Chung, Tiffany; Ellialtıoğlu, Şinasi; Reimer, Jeffrey A.; Gülseren, Oğuz; Üner, Deniz (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2019-11-07)
The effects of Co addition on the chemical and electronic structure of PbTiO3 were explored both by theory and through experiment. Cobalt was incorporated into PbTiO3 during the sol-gel process with the X-ray diffraction (XRD) data of the resulting compounds confirming a perovskite structure for the pure samples. The XRD lines broadened and showed emerging cubic structure features as the Co incorporation increased. The changes in the XRD pattern were interpreted as double perovskite structure formation. Pb-...
Small genus-4 Lefschetz fibrations on simply-connected 4-manifolds
Altunöz, Tülin (2022-03-07)
We consider simply connected 4-manifolds admitting Lefschetz fibrations over the 2-sphere. We explicitly construct nonhyperelliptic and hyperelliptic Lefschetz fibrations of genus 4 on simply-connected 4-manifolds which are exotic symplectic 4-manifolds in the homeomorphism classes of CP2 #8 and CP2#9, respectively. From these, we provide upper bounds for the minimal number of singular fibers of such fibrations. In addition, we prove that this number is equal to 18 for g = 3 when such fibrations are hyperel...
