A novel approach to chemical resemblance of alternant hydrocarbons
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2002-02-14)
Within the constraints of the Huckel molecular orbital theory, a topological approach has been developed for the resemblance of alternant hydrocarbons. Four topological variables are considered which categorize alternant hydrocarbons having some resemblance of certain degree between them. Depending on variations of these topological variables, various groups of the compounds, including the identity case, various isomers and nonresembling systems have been investigated.
A Novel Experimental Method for Microwave Dielectric Characterization of Flexible or Rigid Thin Sheets
Hajisaeid, Ehsan; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi; Akyurtlu, Alkim (2017-06-09)
This work demonstrates a novel experimental method coupled with analytical extraction codes to determine dielectric properties of flexible or rigid thin sheets in a waveguide measurement setup. This method is based on measuring the transmission phase shift with and without the material under test which is placed in the middle of two polymeric sample holder blocks. These blocks are 3D printed according to the thickness of the thin sheet sample and the complex dielectric properties are calculated by removing ...
A novel approach for the design of pulse shaping filters
Curuk, Selva Muratoglu; Tanık, Yalçın (2006-06-01)
In this work, we propose a new class of pulses for PAM type digital signals. The pulses are designed based on minimization of a figure of merit that is the product of the Cramer-Rao bound of the timing jitter variance and the mean eye closure rate. The new pulses are seen to yield significantly better performances as compared to the classical ones.

A Novel Characterization Method for MEMS Based Electrostatic Resonators for Q Enhancement and Feedthrough Current Elimination
AYDIN GÖL, EBRU; Kangul, M.; Gökce, Fuat; Zorlu, O.; Külah, Haluk (2016-11-03)
This paper introduces a new technique for electrostatic resonance characterization based on 2nd harmonic distortion terms at the output current. Mathematical analysis of the output current shows that the 2nd harmonic component exhibits higher quality factor (Q) than the 1st harmonic. Besides, output current to feedthrough current ratio is higher in the 2nd harmonic term. Experimental results show that the Q of the resonating system is enhanced by 66% with 2nd harmonic operation. Moreover, the resonance peak...
