Nehir tipi hidroelektrik santraller, bir depolama olmaksızın nehirden emniyetli olarak çevrilebilecek akım miktarına göre enerji üretirler. Bu çalışmada nehir tipi santrallerin hidrolik tasarımı için geliştirilen MINI-HPD isimli bir bilgisayar programı tanıtılmıştır. C# programlama dilinde yazılan bu program Windows işletim sistemi altında çalışmaktadır. Bu program, yandan su alışlı dolu gövdeli regülatör elemanlarının, iletim kanalının, yükleme havuzunun ve cebri borunun hidrolik tasarımlarını gerçekleştirmektedir. Program ayrıca optimum işletme debisi, optimum kurulu güç ve optimum cebri boru çapı seçimiyle ilgili hesapları da yapabilmektedir. Kullanımı kolay olan bu program vasıtasıyla bir tasarım mühendisinin değişik senaryolar ve ilgili parametrelerin kombinasyonları altında bir dizi analizi hızlı bir şekilde yapabilmesi planlanmıştır. Programın kullanımı bir örnekle sunulmaktadır.
