Light emission at 1.54 mu m from an Er-doped amorphous silicon nitride layer coupled to photonic crystal resonators at cryogenic and room temperatures and under varying optical pump powers has been studied. The results demonstrate that small mode volume, high quality factor resonators enhance Er absorption and emission rates at the cavity resonance. Time resolved measurements give 11- to 17-fold Purcell enhancement of spontaneous emission at cryogenic temperatures, and 2.4-fold enhancement at room temperatu...
Linewidth narrowing and luminescence enhancement in photonic crystal cavities and plasmonic gratings on an Er-doped silicon nitride platform
Gong, Yiyang; Makarova, Maria; Yerci, Selçuk; Li, Rui; Stevens, Marty; Baek, Burm; Nam, Sae Woo; Dal Negro, Luca; Vučković, Jelena (2010-05-07)
Light emission at 1.54 mu m from an Er-doped amorphous silicon nitride layer coupled to photonic crystal resonators and plamonic arrays is studied. We observe the cavity resonances at cryogenic and room temperatures and under varying optical pump powers. The results demonstrate that small mode volume, high quality factor resonators enhance Er absorption rates dramatically at the cavity resonance. Photonic crystal cavity resonances exhibit linewidth narrowing with pump power at cryogenic temperatures, signif...
Optical properties of GaS crystals: Combined study of temperature-dependent band gap energy and oscillator parameters
IŞIK, MEHMET; TUĞAY, EVRİN; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2017-08-01)
Optical parameters of gallium sulfide (GaS) layered single crystals have been found through temperature-dependent transmission and room temperature reflection experiments in the wavelength range of 400-1100 nm. Experimental data demonstrates the coexistence of both optical indirect and direct transitions and the shift of the absorption edges toward lower energies by increasing temperature in the range of 10-300 K. Band gap at zero temperature, average phonon energy and electron phonon coupling parameter for...
Optical and photoelectrical properties of TlInSSe layered single crystals
Güler, Işıkhan; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2018-01-01)
Optical and electrical properties of TlInSSe layered single crystals have been studied by means of transmission, reflection and photoconductivity measurements. Transmission and reflection experiments have been carried out from 540 to 1000 nm at room temperature. Derivative analysis was applied to both transmission and reflection spectra and indirect band gap energy was found as 2.06 eV. Photoconductivity measurements have been performed in the temperature range from 245 to 300 K and in the voltage range fro...
NEMATIC-SMECTIC A TRICRITICAL PHASE-TRANSITION IN BINARY MIXTURE OF LIQUID-CRYSTALS
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (1992-10-01)
The nematic-smectic A tricritical phase transition has been studied in binary mixtures of liquid crystals. By making the analogy between the "quasi-binary" fluid mixture and binary mixture of liquid crystals, we adapt the thermodynamic model for fluid mixtures due to Griffiths to the case of mixtures of liquid crystals.
