Polyaniline: synthesis characterization solution properties and composites
Yılmaz, Faris; Küçükyavuz, Zuhal; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2007)
Polyaniline was chemically synthesized at three different temperatures of 25, 0, and -25oC, by oxidative polymerization with ammonium peroxidisulfate at equimolar of aniline to oxidant ratio and 1M HCl. The resulted polyaniline was in a powder form which was characterized by several techniques such as: electrical conductivity, elemental analysis, thermal analysis, wide-angle X-Ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope. The solution properties of the reduced polymer were studied by viscometry, static...
Polyamide 66 Binary and Ternary Nanocomposites: Mechanical and Morphological Properties
Mert, Miray; Yılmazer, Ülkü (Wiley, 2010-10-05)
Polyamide 66 (PA 66)/impact modifier blends and polyamide/organoclay binary and PA 66/organoclay/impact modifier ternary nanocomposites were prepared by the melt-compounding method, and the effects of the mixing sequences on the morphology and mechanical and flow properties were investigated. Lotader AX8840 and Lotader AX8900 were used as impact modifiers. The concentrations of the impact modifiers and the organoclay (Cloisite 25A) were maintained at 2 and 5 wt %, respectively. Both the binary and ternary n...
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-substituted push-pull chromophores: an investigation of optoelectronic and nonlinear optical properties using experimental and theoretical approaches
Dengiz, Çağatay (2021-01-01)
A series of new push-pull chromophores were synthesized in moderate to very high yields (65%-97%) by treating TCNE and TCNQ with alkynes substituted by electron-rich diethylaniline and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Some of the chromophores exhibit strong intramolecular charge-transfer bands in the near-1R region with lambda(max). values between 695 and 749 nm. With the help of experimental and theoretical analysis, it is concluded that the trend in lambda(max) values is affected by PAH substituents ster...

Poly(lactic acid) blends, composites and fibers and direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry for nanoclay composites
Özdemir, Esra; Hacaloğlu, Jale; Kayran İşçi, Ceyhan; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2017)
In the first part of this study, poly(lactic acid)-poly(ethylene glycol), PLA-PEG, blends, composites and electrospun fibers of PLA and PLA composites, PLA-PEG blends and PLA-PEG, blends composites were prepared and characterized. X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer (STA) and Direct Pyrolysis Mass Spectrometer (DP-MS) techniques were used for characterization studies. Both T...
