Two-fluid boundary layer stability
Özgen, Serkan; Sarma, GSR (1998-11-01)
The stability of a two-fluid boundary layer is investigated. A boundary layer shears a second fluid that is bounded by the wall and the shearing fluid. The eigenvalue problem governing the linear stability of the configuration is solved using an efficient shooting-search method. Besides the Tollmien-Schlichting mode (hard mode) found in the classical hydrodynamical stability theory an additional Yih-mode (interfacial mode) exists due to the two-fluid interface. Effects of viscosity and density stratificatio...

Two-dimensional hybrid model for a glow discharge: comparison with fluid and kinetic (particle) models, reliability and accuracy
EYLENCEOGLU, E.; Rafatov, İsmail (2013-10-24)
We developed and tested a two-dimensional Monte Carlo – fluid hybrid numerical code for the DC glow discharge simulations. The model is based on the separation of electrons into two parts, namely, the low energetic (slow) and high energetic (fast) groups. Ions and slow electrons are described within the fluid model using the drift-diffusion approximation for particle fluxes. Electrostatic field is obtained from the solution of Poisson equation. Fast electrons, represented by the appropriate number of super ...
Two-bit transform for binary block motion estimation
Erturk, A; Erturk, S (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2005-07-01)
One-bit transforms (IBTs) have been proposed for low-complexity block-based motion estimation by reducing the representation order to a single bit, and employing binary matching criteria. However, as a single bit is used in the representation of image frames, bad motion vectors are likely to be resolved in 1BT-based motion estimation algorithms particularly for small block sizes. It is proposed in this paper to utilize a two-bit transform (2BT) for block-based motion estimation. Image frames are converted i...
Two-dimensional transient shear wave propagation in viscoelastic cylindrical layered media
Abu-Alshaikh, I; Turhan, D; Mengi, Y (2001-06-06)
In this study, propagation of two-dimensional transient shear waves in viscoelastic cylindrical layered media is investigated. The multilayered medium consists of N different isotropic, homogeneous and linearly viscoelastic layers with two discrete relaxation times. A numerical technique which combines the Fourier transform with the method of characteristics is employed to obtain the solutions.
