This paper discusses the modeling efforts in the development of an integral building performance assessment tool for the Dutch Government Building Agency (RGD). The model enables the performance data to be created, processed and communicated throughout the building lifecycle by various stakeholders. The proposed model extends the authors' previous research efforts in developing a digital environment for continuous building performance verification and data integration. Moreover, it is planned to include other assessment methods that RGD are practicing in the proposed model. In this respect, the proposed model's adaptability to incorporate the concepts of the initial model and its capacity of flexibility and extendibility to integrate new performative concepts and methods are discussed.

A Method for Facilitating 4D Modeling by Automating Task Information Generation and Mapping
Altun, Murat; Akçamete Güngör, Aslı (2018-10-04)
4D modeling integrates 3D model with project time schedule to provide virtual simulation for identifying spatio-temporal problems earlier in construction projects. However, constructing a 4D model takes a significant amount of time and is prone to man-made errors due to its manual steps and repetitive nature. Therefore, in this study, a model based two-phase method is developed to facilitate linking 3D model with the schedule by automating the cumbersome steps. In the first phase, 4D Task IDs are created an...
A Learning-Based Resegmentation Method for Extraction of Buildings in Satellite Images
Dikmen, Mehmet; Halıcı, Uğur (2014-12-01)
This letter introduces a new method for building extraction in satellite images. The algorithm first identifies the shadow segments on an oversegmented image, and then neighboring shadow segments, which are assumed to be cast by a single building, are merged. Next, candidate regions where buildings most likely occur are detected by using these shadow regions. Along with this information, closeness to shadows in illumination direction and spectral properties of segments are used to classify them as belonging...
An automated building extraction model using fuzzy k-nn classifier from monocular aerial images
Şenaras, Çağlar; Karslıoğlu, Mahmut Onur; Department of Civil Engineering (2007)
The aim of this study is to develop an automated model to extract buildings from aerial images. The fuzzy k-NN classification method is used to extract the buildings by using color information. Also in the thesis, the advantages of the relevance feedback systems are discussed. The software, BuildingLS, is developed in C#. The model is evaluated in 5 different test areas with more than 700 building.
A detailed seismic performance assessment procedure for RC frame buildings
Yakut, Ahmet (2005-06-01)
A detailed seismic performance assessment procedure has been developed for RC frames with masonry in-fill walls. The procedure is based on member damage functions developed for the primary components: columns, beams and in-fill walls. Investigations carried out to determine the influence of a number of parameters on the damageability of components were combined with experimental data to develop component damage functions expressed in terms of member deformations. The component damage states are combined tak...
Analysis of modeling effort and impact of different levels of detail in building information models
Leite, Fernanda; Akçamete Güngör, Aslı; Akinci, Burcu; Atasoy Özcan, Güzide; Kiziltas, Semiha (2011-08-01)
The main objectives of this paper are to evaluate the modeling effort associated with generating building information modeling (BIM) at different levels of detail (LoD) and the impact of LoD in a project in supporting mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design coordination. Results show an increase in total modeling time ranging from doubling the modeling effort to eleven folding it, when going from one LoD to another. When comparing modeling time per object, rates ranged from 0.2 (decreased modeling ...
