Design and fabrication of rf mems switches and instrumentation for performance evaluation
Atasoy, Halil İbrahim; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
This thesis presents the RF and mechanical design of a metal-to-metal contact RF MEMS switch. Metal-to-metal contact RF MEMS switches are especially preferred in low frequency bands where capacitive switches suffer from isolation due to the limited reactance. Frequency band of operation of the designed switch is from DC to beyond X-band. Measured insertion loss of the structure is less than 0.2 dB, return loss is better than 30 dB, and isolation is better than 20 dB up to 20 GHz. Isolation is greater than 2...

Design and Analysis of PLLs for Line-connected Converters in Three Phase Systems
Vyawahare, D.; Kose, H.; AYDEMİR, MEHMET TİMUR; Chandorkar, M. C. (2011-09-10)
This paper is concerned with phase locked loop (PLL) structures for use in the control of line connected power electronic converters in three phase systems. Such converters have to operate under conditions in which the power system phase voltages are often unbalanced. The unbalanced and distorted line voltage vector as observed in the stationary reference frame generally has instantaneous rates of change components in the radial as well as in the angular directions. The essential task of a PLL in this conte...
Design and construction of a microwave plasma ion source
Çınar, Kamil; Bilikmen, Kadri Sinan; Department of Physics (2011)
This thesis is about the designing and constructing a microwave ion source. The ions are generated in a thermal and dense hydrogen plasma by microwave induction. The plasma is generated by using a microwave source with a frequency of 2.45 GHz and a power of 700 W. The generated microwave is pulsing with a frequency of 50 Hz. The designed and constructed microwave system generates hydrogen plasma in a pyrex plasma chamber. Moreover, an ion extraction unit is designed and constructed in order to extract the i...
Design and implementation of a 200w microinverter for grid connected photovoltaic energy conversion system
Kavurucu, Semih; Hava, Ahmet Masum; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014)
As one type of the grid-connected photovoltaic energy conversion systems, micro-inverters (MI, also known as Module Integrated Inverters, MII) are typically designed for residential applications with energy capacities of 3-5 kW and less, in order to provide PV module level energy generation, plug-N-play operation, minimization of the shading effects occurring on the PV module, and flexibility of installation. For the micro-inverter system which can be designed employing variety of topologies, interleaving f...
