This study presents the development activities of a Quadrotor for search and rescue operations. There are four main specifications: The total weight of the vehicle is should be less than 4 kg, the endurance of the quadrotor should be at least 45 minutes in hovering flight, the vehicle shall carry a high resolution video camera to be transmitted live to the ground station, commertial of the shelf parts shall be used as much as possible. The initial design required the selection of the propulsion system. Five different propeller are tested with seven different brushless direct current motors. The test results indicate that the goals are achievable. Wind tunnel test results for selected propellers are also presented.

Extra Korolev producers: their impact on production
Yskak, Aidos; Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2010)
In this study, a three-dimensional, three-phase dynamic simulation model based on geological investigations of Korolev oilfield in Kazakhstan was used as a development planning tool in order to improve performance of three new wells. The model, developed previously by means of a seismic study, well log and core data, incorporating with characteristics of oilfield productivity, properties of reservoir, liquids and gases that are saturating the hydrocarbon-bearing horizon can be used to calculate development ...
Seismic roof isolation of Halkapinar Gymnasium
Duran, Cihan Kurtuluş; Yılmaz, Çetin; Department of Civil Engineering (2007)
In this study, seismic roof isolation solutions were investigated with a case study of Halkapınar Gymnasium, izmir. In the first part, seismic isolation was explanied and philosophy behind it was given. In the second part, existing seismic roof isolators, elastomeric bearing and viscous damper, were investigated with different support isolation combinations. In the third part, two more types of seismic isolators, lead rubber bearing and friction pendulum isolators, were also analyzed by using the same model...
Analysis of a UAV that can Hover and Fly Level
Cakici, Ferit; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (EDP Sciences; 2016-03-14)
In this study, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with level flight, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and mode-changing capability is analysed. The platform design combines both multirotor and fixed-wing (FW) conventional airplane structures and control surfaces; therefore, named as VTOL-FW. The aircraft is modelled using aerodynamical principles and linear models are constructed utilizing small perturbation theory for trim conditions. The proposed method of control includes implementation of multirotor a...
Manufacturing and structural analysis of a lightweight sandwich composite UAV wing
Turgut, Tahir; Kayran, Altan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2007)
This thesis work deals with manufacturing a lightweight composite unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) wing, material characterization of the composites used in the UAV wing, and preliminary structural analysis of the UAV wing. Manufacturing is performed at the composite laboratory founded in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, and with hand lay-up and vacuum bagging method at room temperature the wing is produced. This study encloses the detailed manufacturing process of the UAV wing from the mold manufactur...
Optimum design of steel structures via differential evolution algorithm and application programming interface of SAP2000
Dedekargınoğlu, Özgür; Hasançebi, Oğuzhan; Department of Civil Engineering (2012)
The objective of this study is to investigate the use and efficiency of Differential Evolution (DE) method on structural optimization. The solution algorithm developed with DE is computerized into software called SOP2011 using VB.NET. SOP2011 is automated to achieve size optimum design of steel structures consisting of 1-D elements such as trusses and frames subjected to design provisions according to ASD-AISC (2010) and LRFD-AISC (2010). SOP2011 works simultaneously with the structural analysis and design ...
